A Brazilian man is under arrest after he allegedly murdered his wife and then took a selfie with her corpse and sent it to her friends and family.
José Torres, 39, stabbed Daniele Vieria, 34, at their home in the northeastern city of Itopororoca on Thursday.
Torres snapped a photo of him next to Vieria and texted it to the family.
He attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself, but paramedics rushed him to Mamanguape General Hospital, police chief Sylvio Rabelo said, according to Braxilian news outlet G1.
Vieria feared for her life and sent multiple messages the mother of her godchildren on Thursday.

Daniele Vieria reached out to the mother of her godchildren via text message and wrote, ‘Help me, he wants to kill me,’ moments before she was stabbed dead by her husband
One of the messages sent at 12:48am read, ‘Help me, he wants to kill me.’
However, her desperate cry for assistance went unanswered because the godmother of her son was sleeping.
She did not see the messages until about 5am and rushed to the home, where she found Vieria dead.
Rabelo said that Vieria had been assaulted by Torres on two occasions.
‘It culminated with this criminal act,’ he said.
Vieria leaves behind a 16-year-old son. DailyMail.com could not confirm if the son was from her relationship with Torres.
Police said that Daniele Vieria was beaten multiple times by her husband, who murdered her Thursday at their home in the southern Brazil municipality of Itopororoca. She leaves behind a 16-year-old son
Torres remained hospitalized and will be taken to the local police station once he is medically cleared by doctors.
A similar incident occurred in the southern Brazil state of Paraná in December 2022 after Gilmar Ferreira, 44, man stabbed dead his wife, Adriana Carvalho, 40.
Ferreira took a photo standing next to his wife of nine years and posted it on social media.
He attempted to cut his wrists and neck, but was rescued by paramedics and taken to a hospital, where doctors saved his life.
