Brisbane Lions celebrate premiership victory at Brunswick Oval

Few bleed blue, gold and maroon like sisters and lifelong Lions fans Janelle Lynch from Beveridge and Alison Trafford from Roxburgh Park.

The dynamic duo has followed Fitzroy (and then Brisbane) for more than 50 years, having taken their rightful place in the cheer squad since they were children.

Lynch and Trafford put in a 16-hour day on Saturday, hoisting the banner for players to run through, barracking then celebrating late into the night.

Cloaked in their handmade velvet robes, the pair still made it to Brunswick Street Oval at 8am on Sunday with a gaggle of friends and relatives, in order to secure a prime spot to see the players raise the premiership cup on a stage that’s been put up.

Asked whether three premierships in a row was enough, Lynch said: “Oh god, no.” She said she felt well but exhausted after the marathon celebrations.
