Egypt Post participates in the first Postal Leaders Forum for the Arab Region, which is hosted by the Sultanate of Oman in the capital, Muscat, during the period from 12 to 14 February, in cooperation with the International Office of the Universal Postal Union, with the participation of heads of Arab postal administrations from 18 Arab countries, and Masahiko Mitoki, Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union, Marian Osfeld, Deputy Director-General, and experts from the International Bureau in the field of digitization.
For his part, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Egyptian Post Board of Directors, said: “The forum sessions bear importance Especially since it addresses many important topics related to the future of Arab postal work and presents the experiences of Arab countries in applying digital transformation and innovation to postal administrations, in addition to discussing the challenges facing Arab postal work in light of the regional and global challenges facing the postal sector, and how to overcome them, And providing innovative solutions and services to serve citizens in all Arab countries.
During the opening session of the forum, which comes under the title “The Digital Economy and the Postal Sector,” with the participation of Dr. Ali Al-Shaythani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Sultanate of Oman, Bassam Al-Sarhan, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Communications Regulatory Authority, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mutua Muthusi, Director of Development and Cooperation at the Universal Postal Union, and the session was moderated by Siva Somasundaram, Director of Policy, Regulation and Markets at the Universal Postal Union; Dr. Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Egyptian Post Board of Directors, reviewed the experience of Egyptian Post’s success in digital transformation and financial inclusion in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the investments made by Egyptian Post in developing the digital technological infrastructure and supporting the Egyptian government’s strategy in promoting e-commerce, e-government services, and implementing inclusion. In addition to the role of Egyptian Post and its participation as a major player in accessing digital economy services and providing many government services, and transforming post offices into integrated service centers that enhance sustainable economic growth, in addition to shedding light on the latest digital products and services that Egyptian Post is scheduled to launch during The coming period.
Dr. Sherif Farouk added that Egyptian Post’s participation in such meetings comes with the aim of strengthening its pioneering role and enhancing ways of cooperation at the level of the Arab region in a way that contributes to the transfer and exchange of experiences. In the areas of providing postal and logistical services to all sister countries, in addition to discussing joint investment opportunities.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Post, is scheduled to hold a meeting with Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hasani, CEO of Oman Post; To review ways to enhance aspects of joint cooperation between Egypt and Oman in light of the memorandum of understanding that the two sides signed last month with the aim of exchanging experiences and enhancing ways of cooperation in the field of postal and logistical services and e-commerce, exchanging electronic postal payment services and issuing joint stamps and how to implement the provisions of this memorandum in a way that achieves the interest of citizens in both countries.
