Higher education: 17 researchers won a work grant to the laboratories of the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced that Egyptian researchers have been selected from various Egyptian universities and research institutions who will receive 17 work grants in advanced laboratories at the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia, for a period ranging between one and two years, renewable, in addition to funding. 15 joint research projects for Egyptian researchers with Institute scientists in research fields compatible with  Objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; With the aim of maximizing the benefit of international partnerships in important disciplines, namely (nuclear physics, high energy physics, neutron physics, theoretical physics, information technology, and radiation biology).

The Minister explained that 17 work grants were provided for Egyptian researchers to work at the United Institute for Nuclear Research, which is the second The largest research center specialized in peaceful applications of nuclear energy after the European Agency for Nuclear Sciences (CERN), within the framework of the agreement signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia, after Egypt’s membership in the United Institute for Nuclear Research was upgraded. The Russian Federation will become a full member in November 2021, as the first Arab and African country to enjoy all the benefits of full membership in the Institute, with the aim of localizing nuclear technology in Egypt, and building Egypt’s capabilities in this vital field within the framework of achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030.

 

 

 The names of the accepted researchers were approved at the meeting of the Joint Supreme Committee of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia.

 

It is worth noting that Egypt is represented in the Academy Scientific Research and Technology joined the Institute as an affiliate member in 2009; To allow Egyptian research bodies and scientists to participate in the Center’s international cooperation activities, use its basic equipment, and enjoy official participation in the basic committees of scientific fields of interest to Egypt, in addition to participating in the sessions of the Center’s Scientific Council, and participating in bilateral or multilateral research projects that are conducted Between the United Institute for Nuclear Sciences and research bodies, which reflects the exchange of scientific expertise and knowledge between the two parties.

 

The United Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) currently includes 19 member states, namely: (Armenia, Azerbaijan, And Belarus, Bulgaria, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea (membership has been suspended), Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam), and 5 bilateral agreements were signed with the governments of (Germany, Italy). , South Africa, Serbia, and Hungary), in addition to a network of international partnerships with more than 900 research institutes and universities in about 70 countries.

 

  The United Institute for Nuclear Research aims to achieve scientific partnerships for member states in multiple and emerging fields of science and technology through the integration of members’ intellectual, financial and material resources, relying on the scientific schools and research trends of member states, and reaching, through joint cooperation, scientific results that cannot be accessed or It can hardly be achieved, within the individual framework of states, as well as developing the human resources of member states.
