Hilary Duff’s Husband Calls Ashley Tisdale ‘Self-Obsessed’

The Ashley Tisdale mum group saga has deepened, this time courtesy of some truly shady comments levelled by Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma

But before we get into that, let me fill you in. Tisdale sent the internet into a tizzy on Tuesday when she penned a scathing essay for The Cut that took square aim at an *unnamed* clique of mothers who she’s no longer friends with.

After some quick maths, fans deduced that Tisdale must be referring to a group including Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore and Duff, since she has been pictured with that mum crew since at least 2022.

Now, Koma — who has been married to Duff since 2019 — has entered the chat via a spicy Instagram Story shared earlier today.  In a fake interview post, Koma is pictured alongside The Cut’s logo and the headline: “A mom group tell-all through a father’s eyes”.

That alone is enough to realise Koma is referencing Tisdale’s tell-all for The Cut, but he went in even further with the accompanying text. “When you’re the most self-obsessed tone-deaf person on earth, other mums tend to shift focus to their actual toddlers,” the text read.

Topping it all off, Koma encouraged followers to “read my interview with The Cut”. Obviously we can’t — since it is a faux interview mockup and not the real deal — but part of me wishes there was an accompanying article so that we could get even more of the mum group tea.

Koma did not mention Tisdale by name (maybe because directly calling someone “self-obsessed” is too diabolical) but there’s little question about who he’s referring to, especially because you’d imagine he’d have all the BTS mum group gossip through his wife.

Whether Koma went too far or is simply supporting Duff is up to you, but his post nonetheless adds another layer to what will hitherto be known as Toxic Mom Group-gate.

Among other jabs, Tisdale’s essay for The Cut said the mum clique was “toxic” and described their dynamic as “too high school” for me. She also claimed the group had “brought her to tears”, and said she fell out with them after realising she’d been “frozen out of the group”.

Reps for Tisdale promptly shut down speculation that her essay was about the group including Duff, Moore and Trainor, before other celebs — including Real Housewives star Crystal Kung Minkoff and fellow former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano — weighed in on social media.

It all amounts to one big mess. A mess so big, in fact, that even a bunch of mums and baby wipes couldn’t clean it up.
