I’m a nutrition coach and there are four items from Aldi I swear by for weight loss

An Australian nutrition coach has singled out four healthy foods sold at Aldi Australia supermarkets that she adores.

Ash Murph, from Queensland, praised the budget supermarket finds for offering great value and being excellent choices for anyone following a weight loss-focused eating plan.

Sharing her picks to her @coachedby.ashmurph, the first product Ash named was the Yoguri Plain Greek Style Strained Yoghurt, sold in a 900g tub for $5.69.

‘This yoghurt – it is so clean and the ingredients are so good,’ Ash explained in a video

‘It’s high protein, low calorie. Amazing if you’re wanting to lose weight.’

There are only two ingredients: skim milk and live yoghurt cultures. Each 180g serve packs 16.4g of protein and just 100 calories.

Next on Ash’s Aldi shopping list was the $5.49 Westacre Dairy Cottage Cheese.

‘You’re going to find the same ingredients in any cottage cheese, so there’s no reason not to get it cheaper at Aldi,’ she said.

For comparison, both Woolworths and Coles sell own brand 500g tubs of Creamed Cottage Cheese for $6.

Cottage cheese has become a popular healthy eating staple thanks to its creamy texture, low calorie count and high protein.

A 100g serving of Aldi’s cottage cheese contains 11.9g of protein for just 87 calories.

Also on Ash’s list was the Oh So Natural Organic Medjool Dates, sold in a 454g tub for $10.49.

Much like her cottage cheese advice, Ash recommends the Aldi version for value.

At Coles, a 454g pack of Medjool dates sells for $11, while Woolworths charges $12.50 for a 450g punnet.

The founder of Coached by Ash Murph‘s final health-conscious pick is found in Aldi’s frozen food aisle.

‘Last but not least, the reason I always go to Aldi is specifically their frozen fruit,’ Ash revealed.

Her go-tos are Orchard & Vine Mango pieces in a 1kg pack for $8.29, as well as Orchard & Vine Blueberries in a 500g pack for $5.19.

‘I find it’s the best quality compared to any other frozen fruit from other places,’ she explained, adding that it was ‘cheaper as well’.

Ash’s video quickly attracted enthusiastic comments from fellow Aldi shoppers.

‘I’m literally having [the yoghurt] right now. It’s the best,’ read one reply.

‘The Aldi cottage cheese is great,’ added another.

The frozen mango was especially popular.

‘I will only go to Aldi for one thing and it’s their frozen mango!’ commented one person.

‘Totally agree with frozen mango, best quality and better price for the size,’ added another.

Many replies thanked Ash for her suggestions, with one pledging to ‘definitely try all this’.

However, one item on Ash’s list has been proving hard to find in stores lately. Cottage cheese’s recent surge in popularity has made it difficult for shoppers to get hold of.

One shopper recently vented on the Aldi Australia Reddit page: ‘Where’s all of the cottage cheese?’

He added: ‘I haven’t seen the cottage cheese on the shelves in MONTHS, what is going on? National cottage cheese shortage?’

Other shoppers agreed that they too had recently struggled to find cottage cheese in Aldi stores. ‘Haven’t seen any for ages – so annoying,’ read one reply.

Daily Mail understands Aldi is working with supply partners to boost stock levels and meet demand.

Several Aldi store workers confirmed on Reddit that cottage cheese sells out almost immediately whenever new stock arrives.

‘Anything that arrives in store sells immediately,’ one Aldi employee confirmed.

Another Aldi worker agreed, saying that they’d observed customers buying it ‘by the box’.

The current demand is thought to be driven by cottage cheese’s rising fame in healthy online recipes, particularly on TikTok and Instagram.

With no signs of the trend slowing down, cottage cheese may remain the hottest 2025 Aussie supermarket commodity that no one ever predicted.
