Lebanon urges the countries funding UNRWA to continue funding the organization

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Lebanese caretaker government, Abdullah Bouhabib, said that the Lebanese diplomatic missions in influential countries that contribute to funding UNRWA are urging these countries to continue funding this organization and warning them of the seriousness of the repercussions of suspending contributions to it.

Bouhabib added, following his meeting today with the Director General of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Dorothy Klaus, that Lebanon demands in all meetings of countries that have frozen their aid to retract this decision, since cutting off aid to them will lead to depriving them of any necessities for a better life and future.

He considered that freezing UNRWA’s work would push generations of Palestinians, especially those displaced and orphans as a result of the war in Gaza, to extremism and resort to violence, which constitutes a threat to regional security and to the security of host countries and donor countries alike.
