The judge presiding over the Lindsay Clancy murder trial told jurors to ‘stay the course’ as they enter day four of deliberations today.
The jury, made up of nine women and three men, have spent 17 total hours deliberating the postpartum mom’s fate.
They must decide whether Clancy is guilty of three murder counts after the former labor and delivery nurse killed her children using exercise bands at her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty in her case, citing postpartum depression, psychosis and overmedication by prescribers. Prosecutors acknowledged that Clancy was mentally ill, but knew what she was doing at the time of the killings.
The jurors, who are non-sequestered, heard five grueling weeks of evidence from doctors, psychiatry experts, police, friends and family before they broke for deliberations.
Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington told reporters that he was ‘confident in this jury’ and that ‘they’re doing a great job working on the case,’ outside of the Plymouth County Superior Courthouse yesterday. ‘They’ve been focused and dedicated throughout the whole trial,’ he said.

Lindsay Clancy jurors are set to begin their fourth day of deliberations after they failed to reach a verdict on Monday.
Judge William Sullivan dismissed the jury at 4pm after thanking them for their time and efforts.
‘You know the instructions. Don’t read anything, don’t talk to anybody about this, don’t listen to anything, don’t do any research, don’t do any visits. Just stay the course,’ he said.
The panel of 12, made up of nine women and three men, has not been sequestered while they decide Clancy’s fate.
The group must reach a unanimous decision on whether Clancy is guilty of murder, manslaughter or not criminally responsible for her actions.
