Major development after caravan was found packed with explosives by a roadside – as cops investigate new theory

Police have made a number of arrests in the case of a suspected anti-Semitic terror plot which was exposed by the discovery of a caravan loaded with explosives.
For 12 days, the van was left beside a property in Dural in northwest Sydney before a resident reported it on January 19, with the explosive contents sparking a multi-agency probe into a suspected terror plot.
An investigation revealed the explosives inside could have created a 40-metre-wide blast.
Following inquiries, officers from NSW Police and the Australian Federal Police executed a number of raids earlier today and confirmed they arrested a number of people.
The latest theory is that the vehicle was ditched on the roadside and filled with mining explosives by a criminal in order to reduce their possible prison sentence, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Federal and state police have executed raids across Sydney earlier today as part of an investigation into links to organised crime.
Police believe the incident could be linked to other anti-Semitic attacks and officers found a note inside the caravan containing addresses of Jewish people and a synagogue and included the words, ‘f*** the Jews’.
The force are treating the situation as a credible terror threat and have been investigating the van’s origins, owners and any associates of the owners.
The owners of the caravan were taken into police custody in January after they were previously arrested for other alleged offences.
It’s understood they were not charged in relation to the explosives found in the caravan.
More to come.
