Man Charged After Jumping On Stage With Katy Perry In Sydney

A man has been charged after allegedly invading the stage of Katy Perry’s Sydney concert on Monday night.

Perry, who is currently on the Australian leg of her Lifetimes Tour, was performing her second Sydney show at the Qudos Bank Arena on June 9th when a fan joined her on stage without permission.

When the man put his arm around Katy, she turned away while the fan continued to dance before the crowd. “There’s never going to be another show like this, so just enjoy it!” Perry told the audience.

Security guards can then be seen taking the man offstage while Perry continues to sing. “What the hell is going on?” she says to the song.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, the man has now been arrested and charged. NSW Police shared a statement confirming the man had been taken to Auburn police station where he was charged with a pair of offences including entering enclosed land, and the other was obstructing a person in performance of work or duties.

The man was granted conditional bail ahead of an appearance at Burwood Local Court on June 23rd, with a six-month ban from the grounds of the Sydney Olympic Park precinct also being put into place.

The man has been identified as Johnson Wen, a “serial prankster” known for posting videos of stage invasions to TikTok under the username @pyjamamann. Wen’s videos show him previously appearing onstage alongside The Weeknd in Melbourne in 2023, and invading the pitch for numerous sporting events.

Perry kicked off her Aussie tour in Sydney last Wednesday before heading down to Melbourne on Friday. She returned to Sydney this week and will continue her tour with another performance at the Qudos Bank Arena this evening.

Needless to say security measures will likely be ramped up after this incident.
