The couple quietly let the world in on their news at the Hollywood premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash this week, where Miley walked the carpet in head‑to‑toe black glam with a brand‑new diamond ring gleaming on her left hand as Maxx stood proudly by her side.
The ring itself is very Miley in this era — a chunky 14‑karat yellow gold band topped with a sizeable cushion‑cut diamond, custom‑made by designer Jacquie Aiche, according to PEOPLE, and impossible to miss in the premiere photos and videos.

By the next day, outlets had confirmed what fans were already assuming: after roughly four years together, the 33‑year‑old singer and the 27‑year‑old drummer are officially engaged.
For anyone still catching up on Maxx, he’s a Los Angeles‑based musician best known as the drummer for rock band Liily, and he previously played with punk band The Regrettes.
Miley and him first crossed paths in 2021 on what she later described as a blind date that was “blind” for her, not so much for him — her attitude going in was basically that the worst‑case scenario was walking out, but instead they clicked enough to keep seeing each other.

By the end of that year they were hitting events like the Gucci Love Parade together, and over time they’ve built a relationship that’s been relatively private but consistently solid in the background of her career highs.
Since then, Maxx has turned into both Miley’s go‑to date and creative collaborator. He’s been at her side for major milestones, including the 2024 Grammy Awards where she picked up her first Grammys for “Flowers” and called him “my love” in her speech before they shared a kiss at their table.
In 2025 he joined her at the Grammys again, SNL’s 50th anniversary special, the Oscars and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, usually appearing in coordinated black looks and maintaining the low‑key, supportive presence that friends and insiders say has been good for her.

Behind the scenes, he’s also worked on her music, contributing drums and appearing throughout her visual album Something Beautiful, including on tracks like “End of the World” and in cameos that blur the line between muse and collaborator.
Miley has been open about why this relationship feels right at this stage of her life. She’s spoken about their six‑year age gap and how being the older one gives her perspective she didn’t have in her early twenties, especially after her marriage to Liam Hemsworth ended in 2020.
In a November 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Miley said their age gap works because they “just don’t take life too seriously”.
“He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters,” she explained. “Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, ‘Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?’ And he’s like, ‘On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah’.”

Miley spoke about her mans to The Cut in September when she said, “I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me. I had to learn that the hard way because my mummy [Tish Cyrus] taught me the wrong way and then I had to learn the right way by myself.
“I had to find someone who treats me with respect and then mum never really put that on the top three of her must-haves,” she continued. “Mum was like, ‘They need to be tall’.”
Cyrus added, “My man’s hot as hell … but my man also respects me.”
All of that history is what makes this engagement feel less like a sudden headline and more like an inevitable next step. And proof that the woman who once told the world she can buy herself flowers has also found someone she’s happy to share them with.
Congrats Miley and Maxx!!
