Kirsty Gallacher has shown her support for her brother-in-law Russell Brand after he took to social media to ‘absolutely deny’ a string of ‘very serious criminal allegations made against him’.
The Smooth Radio presenter, 47, who is the older sister of Brand’s wife Laura, shared the comedian’s two-minute video on Instagram with a large red love heart.
The comedian has since been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women during the peak of his fame, according to a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4.
The allegations claim to have taken place between 2006 and 2013. One of the alleged victims was said to be a 16-year-old schoolgirl. Brand denied the claims to the newspaper and television channel.
Throughout the clip posted last night he insisted any relationships he had ‘during his time of promiscuity’ were ‘consensual’ before claiming he is victim of a ‘co-ordinated media attack’.
Until now there has been much speculation surrounding what the Channel 4 Dispatches investigation could be about but it has now been confirmed to be an investigation into allegations of Brand’s alleged violence against women.
The documentary, that will air at 9pm, investigating Brand’s treatment of women and speaking with five alleged victims, four of whom have asked to remain anonymous.
Ahead of this afternoon’s bombshell revelations Brand, 48, last night addressed his fans telling them he had received two ‘extremely disturbing letters from a ‘mainstream media TV company’ and a newspaper.
