The Lebanese Council of Ministers ratifies the state general budget law

The Lebanese Council of Ministers approved the general budget law for the Lebanese state for the current year, to enter into force immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

This came in the Lebanese Council of Ministers session held today in the Grand Serail, the headquarters of the Lebanese government, headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati and in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister His Excellency Al-Shami, the Minister of Education and Higher Education Judge Abbas Al-Halabi, the media Ziad Makari, youth and sports George Kallas, the state for administrative development affairs Najla Riachi and industry George. Bushkian, Finance, Youssef Khalil, Economy and Commerce, Amin Salam, Communications, Johnny Al-Qurm, Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, Environment, Nasser Yassin, Culture, Judge Muhammad Wissam Mortada, Health, Firas Al-Abyad, Labor, Mustafa Bayram, Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiya, Agriculture, Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, and the displaced, Issam Sharaf Al-Din. The Director General of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Antoine Choucair, and the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mahmoud Makiya, also attended.

Last Monday, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, ratified the budget law and referred it to the Council of Ministers, after a long debate in discussing the project due to texts imposing exceptional taxes on companies and doubling the fees for some services more than 10 times.

On the other hand, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed with a French delegation ideas regarding the situation in southern Lebanon.

This came during Mikati’s reception today at the Grand Serail, the headquarters of the Lebanese government, with a French delegation that included the Director General of Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Frederic Mondolini, the Director General of International and Strategic Relations at the Ministry of Defense, Alice Rivaux, the Deputy Director of North Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emmanuel Socquet, and the French Ambassador, Hervé Magro.

The diplomatic advisor to President Mikati, Ambassador Boutros Asaker, also participated in the meeting .

Ambassador Magro indicated that the visit is a follow-up to the visit made by French Foreign Minister Stephane Ségornet a few days ago, explaining that during the meeting ideas were presented regarding the situation in southern Lebanon, without revealing the nature of the ideas that were discussed..
