WHO: Most cases of monkeypox in Europe are among men who have sex with men

According to a lead consultant to the World Health Organization, Dr. David Heymann, most reported cases of monkeypox in Europe are among men who have sex with men.

In its statement, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control confirmed: “The nature of infections in some cases indicates that transmission of infection occurred during sexual intercourse.”

However, any close contact with an infected person, their clothing, or bedding can cause infection.
