A Big Brother contestant has been swept up in a social media scandal after being falsely accused of using a racial slur while discussing one of her Black castmates.
Kelley Jorgensen, 30, was in the bathroom discussing eliminations with Lauren Domingue when she brought up voting out Ashley Hollis, who is African-American.
‘It’s tempting to get Ashley out. You know? Like these monkeys…’ she said before cutting herself off as Ashley entered the bathroom.
The clip was recorded from the live feeds and then posted to social media, where some Big Brother fans were quick to accuse Kelley of using an anti-Black racial slur.
‘This is genuinely horrendous. Why does Big Brother keep casting racist horrible people. Kelley isn’t even fun to watch she’s just a terrible person,’ complained one fan.
However, it appears that there’s another explanation for the whole incident.
The Big Brother bathroom is filled with monkey designs, and viewers have argued that Kelley had quickly changed the subject to be about the decor after Ashley walked in to avoid being caught talking about her.
‘She’s not racist,’ argued one fan, who called it a ‘crazy accusation’.

‘She was talking about Ashley then Ashley walks in and Kelley obviously has to change the subject so she turns to the monkey decorations in the bathroom, but you clearly can’t see that since this is just one camera view,’ they added.
Another wrote, ‘The more you guys make up racism scandals that don’t exist the less likely people will be to care about actual racism when it happens. This is pathetic, she was talking about bathroom decor.’
A third posted a photo of the bathroom monkeys and wrote, ‘She heard someone walking in on their convo and tried changing the convo, clearly pointing out these…’

This isn’t the first scandal to go down on this season of Big Brother.
Earlier this season, Isaiah ‘Zae’ Frederich was having a late night conversation with fellow houseguest Keanu Soto when viewers caught him saying ‘r****d’ on the live feed.
While playing chess with Keanu, Zae blurted out, ‘Oh s**t. I’m a f***ing r****d.’
He then quickly caught himself and added, ‘Damn, I shouldn’t say that word.’

Fans online have argued that Kelley was talking about the monkey decor in the bathroom and not her fellow Big Brother Houseguest Ashley
Keanu awkwardly responded, ‘No, you shouldn’t.’
Zae responded, ‘That’s one of the ones I was working on not saying.’
The pair then laughed nervously, before Keanu said, ‘I think you’re good… you’re lucky it’s late.’
Keanu then said that he didn’t think the live feed was on, not realizing that loyal Big Brother fans were watching the incident in real-time online.
After one fan took a clip of the moment and re-posted it on X, many viewers expressed their outrage over the ‘ableist’ remark.
Earlier this year, Cierra Ortega was removed from Love Island USA after fans online discovered an old clip of her casually using the word ‘ch***y’.
The slur is considered racist towards Asians, especially Chinese.
Another contestant, Yulissa Escobar, was pulled from the show after just three days when an old podcast clip of her using the N-word surfaced.
