Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas cruise ship fight forced mega-vessel to return to Miami

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas was forced to return to shore after a brawl onboard left a number of guests injured.

The cruise ship had to return to Port Miami on Monday evening, with two passengers being taken to hospital, WSVN reported.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the call, saying they provided care to adult guests onboard who were involved in an altercation.

One witness spoke with local10, saying they saw people running to the pool area before the captain announced the return to port.

Images emerged on social media on Monday night, showing a large police presence at the port – alongside several ambulances.

One person who shared images from onboard said there was a fight onboard and in further comments said around a dozen people were escorted off the ship.

WSVN also caught the vessel returning to the port with flashing blue lights seen lighting up the dock side of the ship.

Royal Caribbean said: ‘Our team provided medical care to adult guests who were involved in an altercation onboard, and the guests are being treated for their injuries.

‘We notified local authorities and are working closely with them. As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no more information to share at this time.’

According to Cruise Mapper data, the ship had originally left Miami at 4:30pm EST before returning later that night.

It is currently on a 4 day round trip throughout the Bahamas, stopping at Coco Cay, and Nassau before returning to Miami.

Wonder of the Seas is the fourth largest cruise ship in the world, with the ability to house 5,606 guests onboard.

It comes after a ship descended into chaos after a group of people onboard got into a brawl ‘over chicken tenders’.

Footage emerged last month of the fight showing  group of several young cruisers throwing punches and knocking each other to the ground as onlookers crowded around watching the chaos.

Security guards made attempts to intervene, as one turned away from the fight and reached for his walkie talkie.

Punches landed with shoes and phones flying across the floor. Many bystanders had their phones out recording the fight while one screamed: ‘Where the f*** is security?’

Mike Terra, who recorded the shocking footage and uploaded it on social media two days ago, flipped his camera while recording and said: ‘Over chicken tenders is crazy.’

It still remains unclear the ship’s name and the voyage on which the video was filmed.
