My seven-year-old loves Taylor Swift and I’ve always enjoyed her good, clean and fun image. But her new album is disgustingly raunchy – and she’s ditching her core audience for filthy lyrics that even make a grown woman like me blush

It’s a Saturday morning, and I’m covered in cake and split orange juice at another chaotic kids’ party.

As they throw themselves around and wiggle to the latest Taylor Swift song, it’s become a tradition for my 7-year-old son, Felix, and the other Swifties, his classmates, to sing their hearts out.

Felix loves nothing better than a disco and a sing-along and even persuaded me to buy him a karaoke machine, which he insists on shouting into several times a week.

For years, we’ve been listening to Taylor Swift songs together while going on journeys, and he’s asked multiple times to attend a concert.

But all that’s changed as Taylor releases her 12th album, Life of a Showgirl. It’s a whole new kettle of fish, and is totally inappropriate.

The lyrics are… well, disgustingly raunchy.

Extremely spicy.

And dare I say it, full-blown sex.

ANNETTE KELLOW and her son Felix (pictured together) love listening to Taylor Swift together, but her new album The Life of a Showgirl, has left her red-faced

One of the song’s ‘Wood,’ an ode to fiancé Travis Kelce’s manhood, starts with, ‘Daisy’s bare naked, I was distraught…’

And finishes with, ‘His love was the key that opened my thighs.’

Subtle doesn’t get a look in.

In another, Father Figure, she gushes; ‘I can make deals with the devil because my d**k’s bigger.’

Charming. How in gods name are lyrics like that suitable for little ‘uns to listen to?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no prude.

I’m the queen of the dancefloor and love nothing more than a night on the tiles wearing something small and sparkly as I totter around to saucy songs.

Heck, I’ve been known to turn a casual after-work drink into a night of 2am twirling, so I know the drill.

The Life of a Showgirl is filled with sexed-up lyrics, and the imagery is racier than ever too

But the lyrics hit different when they’re at a 7-year-old’s Pokemon themed birthday bash.

That’s because Taylor Swift has clearly ditched her younger fans and decided that sex and raunch are her new USPs.

Her kid-friendly concerts, normally all about bracelets, face glitter and bright sparkly outfits, will now be full of filthy lyrics that will make even a seasoned twerking Cardi B fan blush.

Taylor’s always been a hit for good, clean fun, with high-profile fans frequently bringing their children to watch her shows, including Serena Williams and Blake Lively.

Even Prince William couldn’t resist celebrating his 42nd birthday at her London Eras tour with his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, followed by a Swiftie selfie last year.

But it hardly rings royalty when she’ll now be gyrating and singing, ‘I heard you call me “Boring Barbie” when the coke’s got you brave,’ does it?

That’s why she should be really careful of alienating her younger audience, who have contributed greatly to her success, buying music, merchandise and attending concerts, the latter of which grossed 2.1 billion on her last tour.

Part of the pull for young audience members is ‘the Swiftie Serenade,’ where Taylor picks a young fan and gives them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of singing to them and gifting them her hat.

But these concerts, of which Taylor never shies away from warbling about love, defeating criticism or celebrating triumphs, has now dissolved into a sex worshipping fiancé fest. The question is, has she gone too far?

I believe she’s skating on thin ice and setting a bad example to children who adore her.

One could be duped into thinking that someone else encouraged her to bring such eroticism to her album, but nope.

Her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, was predominantly written and produced by herself, alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.

I have to applaud her on keeping creative control and making savvy business decisions, both of which have helped keep tight reins and maximise financial success. But I can’t help feeling it’s a step too far.

Many parents may dismiss it as harmless fun, but studies show that listening to music affects children cognitively and emotionally.

A recent Durham study led by Dr Paddy Ross suggests that what children hear could play a more important role than what they see.

The findings declare that music encourages positive emotional engagement in a range of situations for children.

But what about sexy music? Our Safer Schools gives guidance that adult-themed music desensitises children and can bring distorted perceptions and emotional distress to some.

Hypnotherapist Zoey Clews agrees and shares that it may affect children long-term.

‘This early sexualisation of children should not be normalised. It’s not normal and it has far-reaching negative consequences in adult life,’ she explains. ‘We’ve got access to all types of porn that children watch from a young age.’

‘Porn and Hollywood are predominantly performative and are not real intimacy or sex. There’s also a wider context at play as famous artists, who have such enormous influence, need to be a lot more responsible with their power and influence.’

While the album has received mixed but mainly rave reviews online, Taylor’s not the first contender to have saucy songs that kids lap up.

Earwig carefully to Chapell Roan’s, Pink Pony Club, and you’ll quickly realise it’s less about learning to horse ride and more about a filthbomb’s West Hollywood pole-dancing fantasy.

Maybe Taylor is feeling more liberated with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and this is her next stage of unshackling the chains for full freedom.

After all, every inch of her life has been packaged to squeaky clean perfection for decades.

But in that case, maybe it’s time to take the raunch elsewhere?

In another song, Wi$h Li$t, she croons about her desire to have kids and settling down ‘in a home filled with love’. If not now, then when, dear?

If that is her true ambition, then maybe she should dial down the steamy public scenes that kids see and focus more on her private baby-making mission.
