‘Incident’ outside Albo’s house as he returns to Australia after whirlwind trip to the United States

Police have been called to Anthony Albanese’s Sydney residence shortly after he touched down from his trip to the United States.

The Prime Minister arrived at Kirribilli House at around 1pm on Thursday, alongside his dog Toto, wearing a casual ‘Joy Division’ t-shirt.

A man was seen being questioned and searched by two male officers as he stood in front of a fence near the sprawling property in the city’s Lower North Shore.

The man was later transported to hospital in a police vehicle.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail: ‘It was a mental health-related incident’.

A spokesperson for Albanese’s office said it was aware of the incident.

‘We are aware and have no comment at this time,’ they said.

Albanese touched down in Sydney just before midday on Thursday morning, after travelling for almost 20 hours in the air.

His flight home from the United States was forced to divert to St Louis after a Royal Australian Air Force crew member suffered a medical incident.

The plane landed just two hours after departing Washington, and the crew member was taken to hospital.

Albanese later continued his journey, flying on to Honolulu before landing in Sydney.

The marathon flight home follows his first in-personmeeting with President Donald Trump, which has been hailed as a success.

One of the key outcomes was the signing of a landmark $13billion critical minerals agreement, aimed at boosting joint investment in mining and processing essential resources.

The deal is expected to reduce reliance on China and strengthen supply chains for industries such as defence, electronics, and clean energy.

Trump also reaffirmed his support for the AUKUS security pact, assuring Albanese that the trilateral submarine deal with the UK remains on track.

The endorsement followed speculation about the future of the agreement, and was welcomed by Australian officials as a sign of continued US commitment to Indo-Pacific stability.

However, a tense moment arose when Trump confronted Australia’s US ambassador, Kevin Rudd, over his past criticisms of the president.

Trump told Rudd, ‘I don’t like you either, and I probably never will,’ though Rudd later offered a private apology.

Despite the friction, the meeting ended on a cordial note.

Trump praised Albanese’s leadership and hinted at a possible future visit to Australia.

The leaders are set to meet again next week at the ASEAN Summit 2025 from October 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur.
