
A major search operation continues for a teenage boy who vanished without a trace during an afternoon swim at a dam in Central Queensland.
The boy was last spotted by a friend swimming at Callide Dam in Dumgree about 5pm Wednesday, and has not been seen or heard from since.
Police and SES crews, with assistance from dam management, commenced a search of the dam and surrounding area.
‘Members of the public that no further assistance is required on the water, as this may compromise current search efforts,’ a police statement read.
‘There is no further information available at this time.’
The search was suspended after five hours due to poor light and will resume on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a separate search will resume for another missing swimmer 250km away at Bargara Beach near Bundaberg.
Emergency services were called to Woongarra Scenic Drive by members of the public shortly before 6pm Wednesday, following reports a swimmer, described as a Caucasian male with a bald head, had not resurfaced.
An extensive search involving specialist officers, Surf Lifesaving Queensland, State Emergency Service, Volunteer Marine Rescue, and LifeFlight continued well into the night and will resume on Thursday.
