Child murderer who killed two-year-old stepdaughter is found dead in same jail where Ian Watkins was killed

A child murderer who killed his two-year-old stepdaughter has been found dead in a West Yorkshire prison.
Kyle Bevan was serving a life sentence in HMP Wakefield for murdering Lola James at her home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire during the pandemic.
Police rushed to the high security prison at 8.25am today following reports a man had been found dead in his cell.
It comes just weeks after paedophile Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins was murdered behind bars at the same prison.
Rico Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have been charged with murdering the disgraced rock star.
Watkins was serving nearly three decades behind bars for a series of horrific child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby daughter.
Meanwhile Bevan killed his stepdaughter in her sleep on July 17, 2020.
The judge concluded Lola’s mother was asleep when the little girl suffered the injuries that caused her death but that she was aware that Bevan had been abusing Lola, ‘yet did nothing’ to protect her.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: ‘HMP Wakefield prisoner Kyle Bevan’s death was confirmed on 5 November.
‘We are unable to comment further while the police investigate.’

The self-confessed ‘spice head’, launched a savage attack on Lola in July 2020 after the toddler’s mother failed to protect her following months of abuse.
Mother Sinead James, 30, allowed Bevan to move into her squalid home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, just days after meeting him on Facebook at the start of the Covid pandemic.
The civil court judge heard how the murderer had ‘hair-trigger volatility’ and threatened to kill his own mother.
Mr Justice Mostyn said the picture Bevan’s mother painted of him was ‘truly disturbing’.
The judge concluded that Bevan ‘abusively inflicted Lola’s injuries’ early on Friday July 17 2020, and had previously inflicted ‘gratuitous violence’ on the little girl.
Bevan had denied murdering Lola. As Lola lay dying, he tried to blame the family dog for her death and used the little girl’s final hours to cover his tracks instead of calling for an ambulance.
He filmed disturbing pictures and videos of Lola, showing marks on her back and swelling and bruising to her head, eyes and lips. One doctor who examined Lola said she was ‘the most battered and bruised child’ she had ever seen during her long career.
Judges heard that Bevan had moved in soon after connecting with James on Facebook. Lola was killed months later.

Singer Ian Watkins was stabbed in the neck last month, an inquest heard.
Watkins was said to have been ambushed by prisoners when inmates were allowed out of their cells at 9am.
A provisional post-mortem concluded Watkins died from ‘an incision wound to the neck’ at the West Yorkshire jail, the brief hearing was told.
He was pronounced dead by a doctor and his body identified by a prison officer.
Area coroner for West Yorkshire, Oliver Longstaff, said: ‘Ian Watkins was pronounced deceased on October 11, 2025, by paramedics who had attended HMP Wakefield where he was a serving prisoner, following a report that he had been stabbed in the neck.
‘A forensic post-mortem has given a provisional cause of death for him of incision wound to the neck.

‘Other prisoners have been charged with Mr Watkins’ murder.’
Following Watkins’ death, more details have emerged about his time behind bars, including his reported use of other inmates as paid protection.
He was believed to have been living on a “general” wing with some of Wakefield’s most dangerous inmates – as opposed to one dedicated to sex offenders.
Watkins was arrested following the execution of a drugs warrant at his home on September 2012.
His vile crimes came to light when officers seized a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices.
In 2019, he was jailed for 10 months on top of his sentence after being found guilty of possessing a mobile phone in prison.
In August 2023, Watkins survived a knife attack in the neck after being taken hostage by three inmates at HMP Wakefield.
