Police officer rushed to hospital after being stabbed

A young police officer is recovering in hospital after a terrifying confrontation in Sydney’s southwest saw him stabbed in the leg with a spear during a dramatic arrest.

The 23-year-old probationary constable was allegedly attacked while responding to reports of an apprehended violence order breach at a home on Werombi Road in Grasmere around 5:20pm on Friday.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command arrived at the property to arrest a 20-year-old man, but the situation quickly spiralled into violence.

In a shocking turn, the man allegedly hurled a spear at officers before stabbing the young constable in the leg.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, with dramatic images showing the injured officer being airlifted by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police used a Taser to subdue the alleged attacker before arresting him and transporting him to Narellan Police Station.

A crime scene has been established, with investigators seizing a spear, a knife, and a hatchet for forensic examination.
