Producers Slam Claim They Manipulated Big Brother AU Finale

Big Brother Australia producers have shut down claims they manipulated the finale, in which Coco Beeby won the $135K prize.

It’s without a doubt that Network 10’s revival of Big Brother Australia took the nation by storm, especially with its 24/7 streaming format, which was available both via TikTok and 10Play.

After about four gruelling weeks of live nominations, live evictions, shopping budget challenges and explosive housemate chats, it was 30-year-old Coco who was voted by Australians to win the cash prize.

Coco wasn’t the only one who left the house with a prize. Vinnie Brigante clocked $10K before he was eliminated, Abiola Oreyomi clutched $15K before self-evicting, and Allana Jackson left the finale with a brand new Suzuki Jimny XL after beating Bruce Dunne in a live game of chance.

However, TVBlackBox alleged that Endemol Shine — the production company behind Big Brother — manipulated the finale for Coco to win.

The publication alleged that Endemol Shine producers spoke to Allana and Bruce separately ahead of the finale, urging the duo to agree to any challenges that may pop up during the live broadcast.

It’s alleged these conversations happened in the diary room with cameras and microphones switched off, and that both Allana and Bruce were unaware they’d been given specific instructions regarding a live broadcast challenge.

It then claimed that Coco was told not to take part in the challenge, adding “producers knew she was winning overall and made sure viewers’ favourite would not be eliminated before the votes were announced”, as the winner of the car challenge would be evicted from the house, therefore they would be unable to win Big Brother.

It went on to note that Channel 10 has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and that it understood the alleged decisions were made by Endemol Shine Australia.

An insider told TVBlockBox that Emily Dale — who came in second — could’ve won if Coco took on the car challenge.

Endemol Shine shuts down manipulation claims

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, a spokesperson for Endemol Shine shut down the claims from TVBlackBox, labelling them as “false”.

“The claims made regarding the production of Big Brother Australia are false,” the spokesperson told the publication.

“Interactions in the diary room are limited to standard production, safety, and housemate welfare.

“The integrity of Big Brother and its results were never compromised.”

This isn’t the first time producers have been accused of pulling strings in the Big Brother house. Earlier in the season, insiders claimed to PEDESTRIAN.TV they were working to keep Holly Young inside the house.

“Holly is too valuable. They’re trying everything they can behind the scenes to steer the edit so she survives,” they claimed.

However, Holly said she didn’t receive any special treatment from anyone, including producers, after she was evicted from the show.

“If anything, I got the rough end of the stick,” she told P.TV.

“If anything, my rations were probably smaller than everybody else’s. I do not think that there was any special treatment whatsoever. I think that it was the complete opposite of special treatment.”
