Renee Nicole Good’s father-in-law says he doesn’t blame ICE for her fatal shooting in Minneapolis

Renee Nicole Good’s former father-in-law said he doesn’t blame ICE for her fatal shooting as he urged people to turn to religion to move on from the national controversy.

Timmy Macklin Sr., told CNN he is a Trump supporter and was not offended by the president’s characterization of the shooting but hopes the hostilities around her death will calm.

‘Renee was an amazing person, she was full of life and full of joy, real gentle, a good mother,’ he said.

‘I just think we make bad choices, and that’s the problem, there is so much chaos in the whole world today. We need to turn to God and walk in the spirit of God, and let him lead us and guide us.’

Good was married to Macklin’s son, who died in 2023, and he is the grandfather of her six-year-old orphaned son.

Macklin was pushed by CNN anchor Erin Burnett for his opinion on whether Good’s shooting death was justified, to which he said he ‘was not blaming anybody’.

‘It’s a hard situation all around,’ he said.

‘I don’t blame ICE. I don’t blame (Good’s wife) Rebecca. I don’t blame Renee. I just wish that, you know, if we’re walking in the spirit of God, I don’t think she would have been there. That’s the way I look at it,’ he said.

Macklin said he did not initially see footage of the altercation between Good and ICE agent Jon Ross that led up to the shooting, but that his opinion changed once he viewed the video.

He said in his opinion it appeared that Ross was ‘rammed’ by Good in her car, a characterization that has been disputed by Democrat officials in Minneapolis.

‘You know, in a flash like that, it’s hard to say how you’d react,’ he continued.

Macklin referenced a separate incident six months prior that also saw Ross hit with a car while working for ICE, and said that may have played into the incident as he described it as a ‘hard situation for everybody’.

He said Good’s wife Rebecca, who was seen in footage taunting Ross in the moments before the shooting, was ‘also a great person’ and said he felt no ill-will toward her.

‘But you know, I think there was some bad choices,’ he added.

Burnett said Ross has gone ‘into hiding’ since the shooting due to the severe media attention on him, and asked what his message to Ross would be, Macklin said: ‘Well, this world is full of trials and tribulations.’

Macklin said he saw footage that appeared to show Ross call Good a ‘f***ing b****’ after shooting her, which he said showed ‘he doesn’t know the Lord like he should.’

It comes as it was revealed Wednesday that Ross suffered internal bleeding following the altercation with Good.

Sources told CBS News that Ross suffered internal bleeding in his torso.

The extent of his condition remains unclear as internal bleeding can also be classified as a bruise or contusion that causes mild or serious injury.

Mother-of-three Good was seen in a now-viral video ignoring demands by federal agents to get out of her maroon Honda Pilot, reversing the vehicle, and then trying to drive off during the protest.

She was then shot in the face before crashing her car. Ross, 43, was seen walking away after the incident.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said he was taken to the hospital afterward and released the same day.

The moment quickly became highly publicized, with one side saying Good, 37, was intentionally trying to hit Ross, and the other saying she was just trying to drive away.

Following Good’s death Noem, President Trump, and Vice President JD Vance said she was allegedly after Ross that day, and that she committed ‘domestic terrorism’ and was a ‘professional agitator’.

But on Monday, the poet’s grieving family said that is not at all who Good was, and denied that she has a criminal past  as many online users have alleged.
