A popular beer company has been forced to issue a second recall notice after concerns some of its products might explode.
Loophole Brewing Co issued a recall for its Pacific Ale 5-litre Party Keg on January 8, following the discovery of a possible secondary fermentation.
This is when pressure builds up and can cause the kegs to leak, rupture or explode.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand claimed the beer contained ‘excess alcohol and carbonation’ which can lead to ‘illness’ or ‘injury’ if consumed.
In the initial warning, the organisation said the impacted kegs have the date markings Pkd 13/10/25 BB 13/10/26 and Pkd 15/10/25 BB 15/10/26.
However, a new warning issued on Friday stated that all date markings up to and including a packaged date of 3 December 2025, with a best before date of 3 December 2026, are impacted.
The kegs have been sold at Costco stores across New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Western Australia.
‘Consumers should not drink or open this product, and should dispose of it safely,’ the notice said.
‘Please contact Loophole Brewing Co for safe disposal instructions and reimbursement. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.’
