Fox host splits social media with bold take on Minneapolis shooting… so is he ‘unhinged’ or ‘completely right’?

Fox Sports host Chris Broussard has split social media after sharing his thoughts on the current political divide across America in the wake of federal agents shooting and killing Alex Pretti.

Broussard, a longtime NBA analyst and co-host of FS1’s afternoon show ‘First Things First’ with Nick Wright, posted a strong statement on social media in the aftermath of Pretti, 37, being killed by a Border Patrol agent.

The 57-year-old wrote on Sunday: ‘If u can’t clearly & boldly state the craziness of Democrats being unable to define what a woman is & saying men can get pregnant, AND the madness of Republicans defending the murder of Alex Pretti, then you’re following a political party/ideology & not The Lord Jesus Christ.’

But his take did not go down well with some of his followers, who quickly replied to vent their fury. Others, however, wholeheartedly agreed with Broussard’s view.

One replied: ‘Absolutely unhinged correlation here. Come get your boy @getnickwright’.

But somebody in agreement commented: ‘Exactly Chris! Thank you for this!’

Another angry user wrote: ‘Sorry @Chris_Broussard this ain’t it my friend.. Time and place for everything! This completely misses the mark!’

‘Well said’ and ‘Great take Chris’, were replies from other people in agreement, however.

Critics continued to pile on though, with another posting: ‘This is a disturbing false equivalence and Brou I honestly thought you were better than this.’

‘How are these two things even comparable?’ another asked.

One skeptic said: ‘What a moronic tweet. Generalization of a party(s) is about as lazy as they get. Then you end it with a god reference hoping that it will excuse your stupidity on this matter.’

‘And this is why we love you Chris! I wish a certain member of your show were the same,’ one of Broussard’s supporters replied.

Pretti, 37, was killed by a Border Patrol agent during a targeted immigration enforcement operation in the Minnesota city early Saturday morning.

The ICU nurse was armed with a loaded Sig Sauer P320 9mm pistol – which he had a legal permit to carry – when he allegedly tried to stop agents from detaining a woman.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials said shots were fired ‘defensively’ against Pretti after he was allegedly ‘violently’ resisting officers.

A roughly 30-second scuffle ensued and someone at the scene shouted ‘gun, gun,’ bystander video showed. It’s unclear whether the remark is a reference to Pretti’s alleged weapon or a federal agent’s gun.

In the hours after the shooting, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti attacked officers, and U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino said he wanted to ‘massacre law enforcement.’ On X, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller called Pretti ‘a would-be assassin.’

Pretti´s family said they were ‘heartbroken but also very angry’ at authorities, calling him a kindhearted soul who wanted to make a difference in the world. Relatives were furious at federal officials´ description of the shooting.

‘The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump´s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs,’ the family statement said.

‘He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. ‘Please get the truth out about our son.’

A federal judge has already issued an order blocking the Trump administration from ‘destroying or altering evidence’ related to the shooting, after state and county officials sued.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said the lawsuit filed Saturday is meant to preserve evidence collected by federal officials that state authorities have not yet been able to inspect. A court hearing is scheduled for Monday in federal court in St. Paul.

Pretti was shot just over a mile from where an ICE officer killed 37-year-old Renee Good on January 7, sparking widespread protests.

Demonstrations broke out in several cities across the country after the shooting, including New York, Washington and Los Angeles.

In Minneapolis, protesters converged in the neighborhood where Pretti had been shot despite dangerously cold weather with temperatures around minus 6 degrees.

An angry crowd screamed profanities at federal officers after the shooting, calling them ‘cowards’ and telling them to go home. Protesters dragged large garbage bins from alleyways to block streets, lighting garbage in at least one on fire.
