Sydney Sweeney could face criminal charges after she was filmed scaling one of the letters of the Hollywood Sign in California to drape it in bras from her new lingerie line.
Footage of the late-night stunt was obtained by TMZ, and shows the actress dressed in black as she and a crew of people scaled a portion of the iconic Los Angeles landmark before decorating it in multiple strung-together bras.
While an official reason for Sweeney’s parkour (bra-kour?) stunt has not yet been given, it’s widely speculated that the actress was promoting her upcoming lingerie brand, which is exactly why she might’ve landed herself in legal trouble.
Although the Euphoria star reportedly received permission for the stunt by FilmLA — which is responsible for approving filming in certain areas of the city — that permit apparently did not grant her the ability to climb, touch or alter the sign in any way.
The Hollywood Sign is owned and protected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which revealed in an email to TMZ that Sweeney did not get permission to use the sign for promotional purposes “as is required”.
The bras were removed after the stunt, but some reports claimed a few were left behind, sparking concerns about whether the sign was actually restored to its original state.
Sweeney has now opened herself up to potential charges including criminal trespassing and vandalism, however it’s not yet known whether the Chamber will pursue legal action or whether it has filed a police report.
The actress has yet to respond to the incident, but she did take some time to again promote the lingerie brand, called Syrn, on social media.
Per Page Six, Sweeney shared a series of clips of herself wearing some items from the brand on YouTube, soon after news of the stunt broke.
Syrn has reportedly been in the works for years with the backing billionaire Jeff Bezos, whose wedding Sweeney attended last year.
It is far from the only controversy Sweeney has endured in recent times. In 2022, she copped heat after sharing a picture of a relative wearing Donald Trump merch, and again caught the ire of the internet last year with an American Eagle denim ad that was slammed for promoting eugenics.

The Hollywood Sign itself has not yet reacted to Sweeney’s stunt, but rest assured it is not the only crass incident it has overseen in the debaucherous town.
At least in this instance it can take thirst traps and has a nice little lift.
