EAT
Go fish In Port Glaud on the west coast of Mahé, Del Place sits right over the water’s edge. Enjoy rum cocktails, creole curries and the morning’s catch (above), soundtracked by local singers. The red snapper in banana leaf with a coconut and lemongrass sauce is not to be missed.
Best BBQ Small, simple and beautiful, Natural Bar & Grill on La Digue is a fab barbecue restaurant set outdoors among the trees. The décor is made from plants, driftwood and shells, while the set menu (either meat or fish) comes on a piece of wood in the shape of the island.
Eat like a local The Seychellois will tell you their takeaways are as good as fine dining – and they’re not lying. La Mer on Praslin supplies top-quality seared tuna, fried chicken and jobfish curry.
STAY
Paradise found Linked to the east coast of Mahé by a 300-metre bridge, the private ‘artificial’ Eden Island has a pristine marina and secluded beaches with excellent snorkelling, exclusive to residents and guests. The transport on Eden? Zippy golf buggies, as all cars are kept in the parking lot. The location is ideal for exploring Victoria (Mahé’s capital) and it’s only a ten-minute drive from the airport. Apartments from £101 a night, airbnb.co.uk.
Peak luxury Embedded in a gorgeous hillside garden on Praslin, the intimate Colibri Guesthouse (above) offers ocean views and a charming sundeck with an infinity pool, as well as a delicious breakfast buffet, poolside bar and on-site restaurant, Kazye. Everything is on your doorstep – you won’t want to leave.
LOVE
Starry shore Known as ‘the most beautiful beach in the world’, the Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue has served as the backdrop for numerous films and TV ads. It’s no wonder: the turquoise water, white sands and imposing granite formations make it one of the most idyllic spots in the Seychelles. Access is via the L’Union Estate plantation (£8 a day).
Hole lot of love On Praslin, the 18-hole Constance Lemuria golf course is worth a visit, even if you’re just driving the buggy. With terraced greens and glorious views, it’s a linksman’s dream (£120 a round).
Cocktail o’clock Danzil Lounge, Raffles, is the most luxurious seat on Praslin for a sundowner. The order? It has to be a Praslin Sling, which marries Raffles 1915 gin with kaffir lime and La Digue vanilla.
