It may be Super Bowl weekend – but in Hollywood all eyes will be on the DGA Awards.
The Directors Guild of America is holding its 78th annual award ceremony tonight at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California.
The event, hosted by Oscar and Emmy-nominated comedian Kumail Nanjiani, has long been regarded as one of the most essential Oscars precursors – often being a reliable predictor of who will take home the Academy Award for best director.
This year, those in the running to clinch the top spot for best theatrical feature film are Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle After Another, Ryan Coogler for Sinners, Guillermo Del Toro for Frankenstein, Josh Safdie for Marty Supreme and Chloé Zhao for Hamnet.
But there will be plenty of other big names hitting the red carpet.
Every year, the star-studded award show has its fair share of fashion hits and misses, and this evening’s gathering is set to be no different.
Here, the Daily Mail has rounded up the worst dressed stars.
American film and television director Lesli Linka Glatter, 72, best known for her work on the AMC drama series Mad Men and the Showtime series Homeland, hid her figure behind oodles of material in a white gown that swept all the way to the floor and boasted an asymmetric cape
Brooklyn based clothing designer Lauren Gabrielson-Morse, who was accompanied by film producer husband Christo Morse, missed the mark with her busy ensemble. The off-white one piece boasted a mesh, structured corset along with tufts of feathers and intricate floral detailing in an ill-assorted arrangement
Australian film and television director Shannon Murphy, who made her feature film debut with Babyteeth in 2019, wore a striking floral sleeveless gown with tiers that somewhat swamped her figure
American television director Beth McCarthy-Miller, 62, who directed Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, looked sombre in an all-black ensemble which boasted pant legs as well as a flowing hem as part of a faux dress effect. She finished the look with open-toe sandals
Janicza Bravo, whose films include Gregory Go Boom, arrived in a very mismatched ensemble consisting of a yellow Prada crewneck, black flared skirt and brown pointed-toe heels adorned with small bows – before finishing the look with a pair of statement sunglasses
Actress Emily Bader, known for her roles in the Amazon Prime series My Lady Jane and the Netflix film People We Meet on Vacation, left very little to the imagination in a bedazzled sheer gown which boasted a very low cut neckline
American director, writer, and producer Jon Avnet, 76, raised eyebrows after taking to the red carpet in a bizarre combination of smart suit and black baseball hat – the latter of which was emblazoned with an orange logo for Stunts Unlimited
Canadian film and television writer Ally Pankiw, 39, wore a striking black floor-length dress that boasted a straight skirt and bizarre detailing to the bust that enveloped her shoulders in cream-colored layers that resembled wings
