England star Henry Arundell is SENT OFF after horror collision with Scotland rival as Steve Borthwick’s side are stunned in nightmare first half in Edinburgh

Henry Arundell was sent off in a nightmare first half for England against Scotland at Murrayfield.

The 23-year-old collided with Kyle Steyn and handed a second yellow card after a review, banishing him to the touchline for 20 minutes before England will be allowed a replacement.

Their flashpoint occured in the dying minutes of the first half and England limped over the line to half-time losing 24-10.

Arundell had misjudged his jump for a high ball and took out Steyn, though the England wing came out of it looking more hurt himself.

He had scored a try earlier in the half, but Scotland had taken a stunning lead thanks to Huw Jones, Jamie Ritchie, and Ben White crossing the line, while Finn Russell had dispatched three conversions and a penalty.

‘What was Arundell thinking then? That was remarkable,’ said Matt Dawson on BBC Radio 5 Live.

‘At the very least, he needs to get off the field because his head is in the clouds.’

It was a torrid first half for Steve Borthwick’s men, who had thrashed Wales 48-7 in their first match to go top of the Six Nations table.

In the Wales thrashing, Arundell became the youngest player ever to score a Six Nations hat-trick for England.

Only Brian O’Driscoll, George North, and Blair Kinghorn had scored a hat-trick at a younger age for any country in the Six Nations.
