US Indo-Pacific chief lauds Operation Sindoor’s tactical execution

New Delhi: India’s “tactical execution” of Operation Sindoor and the “restraint exhibited” has drawn praise from the United States Indo-Pacific Command chief, who also said that there are many lessons to be drawn from the use of Chinese origin weapons and guidance systems during the conflict.

Admiral Samuel J Paparo, who is on a visit to India, said that all peace loving nations are concerned to see operations of this kind, and hoped that India and the US can work together to see that such a “terrible event” does not happen again. “I applaud the tactical execution in Operation Sindoor. I applaud the introspection on lessons learned. And, you know, we very sincerely thought, we applaud the restraint that was exhibited, and we hope to work together to see that such a terrible event doesn’t happen again,” he said.

The top Admiral added that as in every conflict, there are lessons to be drawn from Op Sindoor, on the use of weapons, the technology being employed and tactical decisions. “There’s lessons to be learned, certainly the employment of those weapons, the potential participation in guiding those weapons were a matter of deep concern, and we all can, and we should have the opportunity to learn from it,” the officer said, in response to a direct question on the use of Chinese technology by Pakistan during the conflict.

The senior officer was positive on India-US relations, saying that the relationship is on an upward trajectory. He applauded India as a net contributor to security of the Indian Ocean Region and identified maritime domain awareness, and specifically undersea domain awareness as an important point of bilateral cooperation.
