Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 groom Chris Nield has officially spoken out about his on-screen partner Brook Crompton’s new(ish) romance with her ex-boyfriend, who she is now expecting a child with.
While any viewer tuning into this year’s season could’ve easily guessed Chris and Brook don’t work out as a couple, their fate was officially revealed on Sunday night when the 27-year-old model announced she was pregnant.
Brook told Woman’s Day that she rekindled her romance with her ex, Harry, two weeks after leaving MAFS in August 2025 — which will play out on the show in the next few episodes. She also shared that she found out she was pregnant in November, and Harry popped the question on Christmas Day during a vacation in Aspen, Colorado.
“It honestly feels like everything has fallen into place,” Brook told the publication. “This is everything I’ve ever wanted — to be with a partner who supports me and loves me for me.”
MAFS’ Chris reacts to Brook’s new relationship
Following the massive announcement, Daily Mail published an interview with Chris from November where he weighed in on Brook’s new romance and questioned her intentions for going on the show.
“I think it would’ve been like three, four weeks after we finished, she’s back with him, living in his apartment,” he claimed. “That’s not me having a go at her or saying anything bad about her. I’m just saying she probably wasn’t ready for the experience.”
The 31-year-old construction supervisor went on to declare that he has “no ill wishes towards her” — although he doesn’t think Brook would say the same about him.
“I feel like we had an experience together and made the most of it, to an extent. It probably wasn’t the right fit for us as people and our personalities,” he said.
“But I just feel like looking at it now, with all the information that I’ve got, I just don’t think she was in the right place for a new relationship to form.”

How do Brook and Chris leave the experiment?
According to Woman’s Day, Brook and Chris’ relationship “imploded in the second week due to an off-screen incident”. It’s unclear exactly what the incident was, but Chris told Daily Mail that he and Brook were both ready to leave the experiment.
“Honestly, we were both very particular people, and I think the environment just got to us multiple times,” he said.
“We both knew we weren’t gonna continue in the experiment because we weren’t getting along, and we weren’t the people that were just gonna hang it out for the sake of it.”
Well, there we have it: one couple down, eight to go (until the intruders are brought in, of course). They may have both irritated viewers in their own special ways, but I’m crossing my fingers that Brook and Chris return for the reunion at the end of the season.
