We’re only two weeks into this year’s season of Married At First Sight (MAFS), but it’s clear the feud between Gia Fleur and Bec Zacharia will be the main source of drama.
Both brides have taken digs in their piece-to-camera interviews and admitted they can’t stand one another, and according to production insiders, things are only going to get more heated from here.
“The drama is only just getting started,” the source told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “This isn’t a one-villain season. The tables turn several times, and they both rage-bait viewers at different points.”
Not only have Gia and Bec been feuding on the show, but they’ve also been using their recent media interviews to throw shade and sway public opinion about their rivalry. The pair have each thrown out allegations about on-set behaviour and called one another out for lying, and many fans have compared the duo to 2022’s Domenica Calarco and Olivia Frazer.
MAFS’ Bec reveals her ‘agreement’ with Gia
Bec recently revealed that things had gotten so bad between them that she had blocked Gia before the season started airing; however, it appears things have since changed.
The 35-year-old account manager told P.TV that “there’s been a level of communication” between herself and Gia in the past week, and they’ve decided to set some ground rules on how they each conduct themselves in media interviews.
“I reached out to her because I felt that we were being a little bit vicious to one another, and I said that I wanted to lead with respect and I wish her well, and she said that she wants to lead with respect as well,” she said.
“We are going to be completely open and honest about our relationship throughout this show, definitely, but I don’t think there’s any need to be attacking each other in the press. We’re adults, and we’re grown women.”
Bec explained that she and Gia have “made an agreement” that they will speak openly about their feelings when they do interviews, but they “won’t be going for the jugular, like talking about each other’s looks”.
“I think that we need to be mature about this and say our truth, but also be respectful at the same time,” she continued. “So she’s agreed, and I’ve agreed to that, and I think that’s a good place to be in.”

Were Bec and Gia ever friends?
What’s particularly interesting about Gia and Bec’s dynamic is that social media comments prove they were somewhat friendly at one point in their relationship.
P.TV discovered on Bec’s Instagram that Gia left a sweet comment in November after filming wrapped, calling her “boo”, which suggests they ended the series on a good note.
While Bec remained tight-lipped about how their friendship unfolded on the show, she teased that viewers are definitely in for a surprise.
“I can’t talk about the end of the show, because I just can’t, but Gia and I bonded at the end of the show. That’s all I can say about that,” she told P.TV.
“We then tried to maintain a friendship outside of the show, and it just proved to us that, as you saw in the hens party, we’re fundamentally very different people. Therefore, whilst trying to maintain a friendship, I think we both realised that we’re just better off being respectful to each other, but not being in each other’s pockets in life.”
Well, they might be cordial now, but stay tuned to see how Bec and Gia’s on-screen feud impacts their real-life dynamic as the series continues. Because if previous seasons are anything to go by, things are about to get messy.
