Another Charlie’s Angels Reboot Is In The Works But Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing

It’s time to whip out your best, “Good morning, Angels” because it’s been confirmed that a new Charlie’s Angels movie is in the works — and everyone’s gone on a fan-casting frenzy.

Yet another film-length version of the OG ’70s TV show is officially on the horizon over at Sony Pictures, which has already tapped screenwriter Pete Chiarelli — known for Crazy Rich Asians and The Proposal — to pen a screenplay for the upcoming project.

Additional details, like a release date or director, are not yet known, but we do know it will mark the latest entry to the Angels universe following on from 2019’s Kristen Stewart-starring reboot.

That film, co-starring Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott with a soundtrack by Ariana Grande, was considered somewhat of a flop in terms of box office and critical success.

That fate was almost predictable given that movie had enormous shoes to fill in what is arguably the franchise’s magnum opus, 2000’s Charlie’s Angels

Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lui and Drew Barrymore fronted the aughties film-length reboot that was so ferociously camp it may as well have featured a tent in every scene.

The iconic trio returned in 2003 for the sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, with all future entries paling in comparison to both the Diaz-led franchise and the original series, which starred Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson

Naturally, the cult following around the title has prompted a bunch of fans to chime in on who they think should star in the reboot.

One popular trio atop fan-casting lists is Anya Taylor-Joy, Willow Smith and Jisso, whose photoshoot for their collaboration with Dior last year certainly gives off BCAE (big Charlie’s Angels energy).

Other suggestions read like a who’s who of young Hollywood, with everyone from Hailee Steinfeld to Florence Pugh, Margaret Qualley, Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya being suggested by fans for the Charlie’s Angels revival.

While some corners of the internet are thrilled by the prospect of an all-new cast, others have demanded that Sony simply add another sequel to the untouchable 2000s franchise.

“Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lou and Drew Barrymore that’s it. That’s my Charlie’s Angels. I don’t want any other young cast or anything. Call the original girls up or don’t make it,” one X user wrote, with another agreeing that if “y’all can’t book these three, please keep it”.

We won’t know for sure how casting pans out until more deets around the Charlie’s Angels reboot are revealed, but in the meantime, I’ll leave you with a hair flip from Diaz as Natalie Cook that was so earth-shattering, it is still ricocheting today.
