Karoline Leavitt’s most expensive handbags revealed… and the designers she favors the most

Over the past year, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been thrust into the spotlight not only as the spokesperson for President Donald Trump, but for her personal style as well.

Since taking the position, the 28-year-old has been labeled as a ‘MAGA Barbie,’ sporting various looks from pricey designer brands like Self-Portrait, Maje and Sandro.

Leavitt, who is currently pregnant with her second child, often appears at White House press briefings in glamorous tweed dresses, high heels, tailored suits and colorful coats. 

But when the political maven is off-duty, or even traveling alongside Trump on Air Force One, she appears to have an extensive array of designer bags in her closet. 

Leavitt has been spotted carrying designer handbags from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Gucci, to name a few.

As Press Secretary, Leavitt earns an annual salary of $195,200, according to Fox News. 

She’s also showed them off on her Instagram page, as she documented nights out on the town and hanging out with friends. 

But according to Dr. David Loranger, PhD, and associate professor of fashion marketing and merchandising at Sacred Heart University, her bags might be sending a signal to her MAGA White House crowd. 

‘To me, the logo thing is so played out and it’s something that someone who wants to project status purchases,’ Loranger told the Daily Mail.

‘She does roll with new-money billionaires, so perhaps she’s just trying to fit in,’ he said. 

Now, Daily Mail is taking a deeper look into Leavitt’s expensive handbag collection as she marks her first full year in office.

Leavitt seems to favor designer Louis Vuitton, a brand that sees bags retailing for thousands of dollars

One of Leavitt’s favorite designers appears to be Louis Vuitton, as she has shown off a number of bags from the French fashion house.

She has been seen toting around the brand’s classic Neverfull Monogram MM bag, which retails for $2,170.

The bag is a classic tote style, made of brown leather and cowhide trim, with a canvas lining. 

In March, she was spotted with the bag when she stepped off of Air Force One, and earlier that same month as she boarded Marine One, proving that it’s a perfect piece for her on-the-go lifestyle. 

‘This bag has been around for years, and customers who have busy careers and lives gravitate towards it. I’d say it embodies “utility with a touch of style,”‘ Loranger told the Daily Mail.

While on the campaign trail for Trump in April 2024, she also brought the bag along with her. 

But Leavitt isn’t the only one in the spotlight who has been seen with the tote – it’s also been worn by celebrities like Hilary Duff, Katie Holmes, and Amanda Seyfried over the years. 

‘The Neverfull tote is still hugely popular because it’s one of Louis Vuitton’s most functional and recognizable totes,’ fashion expert and founder of Launch Your Collection Lisa Springsteel Dupree told the Daily Mail.   

‘Its mix of heritage monogram branding and everyday practicality keeps it a go-to staple for celebrities and non-celebrities alike, even as newer styles cycle in and out,’ she explained.

Besides the Neverfull tote, the White House Press Secretary also owns a few other styles from the brand.

Leavitt also seems to have the Capucines mini bag in her collection, as she was seen carrying a limited-edition snakeskin version of the bag to Mar-a-Lago in November 2023.

Although the bag is not available anymore, it was once sold at retail for over thousands of dollars.

She’s also been seen wearing the $5,000 Coussin PM bag in cream, which she’s posed with on Instagram during fun nights out on the town.

But wearing Louis Vuitton does come with a warning, according to Loranger.  

‘LV has been so over-exposed as a brand that it’s everywhere, and now I’d consider it masstige; as Fran Lebowitz says, “a poor person’s idea of a rich person,”‘ Loranger said.

‘I think it’s a pure status statement, like “yes, I can buy a $2,100 bag.” But so can lots of people.’

Leavitt has recently added some Chanel to her collection of designer bags

In recent months, Leavitt has appeared to level up her handbag collection by adding in a Chanel bag to the mix.

It seems that she’s purchased the Lambskin Quilted Pearl Small Flap bag in light purple, which features shiny gold hardware and the classic interlocking ‘C’ logo at its front.

Although the bag isn’t available for purchase on Chanel’s website, it’s being sold on resale sites like Fashionphile for nearly $6,000.

She paired the new bag with a figure-hugging, short-sleeve black dress while attending Deputy Chief of Staff Daniel Scavino Jr.’s glamorous Mar-a-Lago wedding earlier this month.

Leavitt attended the wedding alongside her much older husband, 60-year-old Nicholas Riccio.  

But owning any Chanel bag costs a pretty penny.

‘A small light pink Chanel top handle bag is extremely hard to get because Chanel often reserves these feminine seasonal colors and mini sizes for top clients,’ Springsteel Dupree explained. 

‘While they do occasionally appear in boutiques or at retailers like Saks, they’re so in demand that securing one typically requires strong purchase history,’ she shared.

Loranger echoed the fashion expert’s sentiments.  

‘I do know that Chanel has rather tight production quantities and controls distribution to various regions rather closely,’ Loranger told the Daily Mail.

‘There are currently bags like this one on sites like Rebag. I don’t think that it would be impossible to get one, but you’d probably have to do some legwork and be willing to pony up $5k,’ he said.

The soon-to-be mom of two owns multiple Gucci purses 

Designer bags from Louis Vuitton and Chanel aren’t the only ones that Leavitt has amassed over the years. She also owns a handful of purses from Gucci.  

While attending the US Open in New York with President Trump in August, she accessorized her white wrap jumpsuit with the $3,200 Gucci Web Dionysus Medium.

The purse featured a cream base with two thick blue-and-red stripes over it. To complete the edgy look, the bag has a bamboo handle and silver buckle in the front that’s in the shape of Gucci’s signature snake emblem.

Unfortunately, the exact style is no longer made by the brand, but it’s available for re-sale on sites like The RealReal. 

She appears to have had the bag for a number of years, as she even posed with it during the summer of 2023, standing in front of the beautiful New Hampshire ocean, where she’s from.

‘The Gucci Dionysus is one of the brand’s icon bags, introduced under former creative director Alessandro Michele and named after the Greek god associated with duality and bold expression,’ Springsteel Dupree told the Daily Mail.

‘Carrying it, especially in a striped or statement version, suggests she’s comfortable leaning into fashion‑forward pieces with personality, not just classic staples,’ she shared.

Leavitt also owns the Dionysus in black, which she paired with a dark purple velvet dress for a December 2022 wedding.

And according to Springsteel Dupree, Leavitt’s choices so far seem to indicate that she’s not always after the ‘hot’ bag, like the $2,000 Goyard tote or $3,600 Christian Dior book bag. 

‘Her avoidance of brands like Goyard or Dior suggests she isn’t chasing the it‑bag circuit among the elite set,’ the expert said.

‘Instead, she gravitates toward houses whose pieces feel consistent with her own aesthetic which is heritage‑driven, without leaning overly decorative.’
