A ground stop has been issued at Newark International Airport in New Jersey after a JetBlue flight was forced to make an emergency landing.
The airport will remain closed until 11pm on Wednesday as crews try to remove the JetBlue plane from the taxiway.
It had taken off from Newark at 5.43pm to Palm Beach, Florida, but had to immediately return to the airport due to engine failure, a source familiar with the incident told PIX 11.
Crew members inside the plane noticed smoke in the cockpit, and the pilot then chose to land at Newark and evacuate the plane via emergency slides.
The plane landed safely with no injuries reported, the source said.
