How Dazed Clubbers are styling their Reebok Classics

We all have that item in our wardrobe that’s undeniably ran-through – for good reason. A staple that, no matter what the occasion, we can throw on without a second thought. For many, that’s a pair of white sneakers. Or more specifically, a pair of Reebok Classics. Now relaunched in 100 per cent premium garment leather, they only get better with time.

The legacy brand is a mainstay of many closets, including Dazed Clubbers Salim Garcia and Gabrielle Narcisse. Last month, Garcia and Narcisse sported their Reeboks to Dazed and Reebok’s Classics Club NYFW party, which came on the heels of the footwear brand’s recent ‘Born Classic. Worn for Life.’ campaign. The campaign, fronted by artist Karol G, saw revamped versions of beloved Reebok styles, including fresh iterations of the Freestyle Lo, Club C 85 Vintage and Workout Plus shoes, all of which are now made from soft, premium garment leather.

After the event, we caught up with Garcia and Narcisse to get a breakdown on how they style their Reebok Classics. If you think you’ve seen every iteration of white sneaker combinations, think again.

Where do you wear (or will you wear) your Reebok Classics?

Salim Garcia: I’ll throw my Classics on whenever I’m on set because they’re comfortable and can withstand the heat of a production set. I’d even throw them on when out with the homies on a casual vibe, like playing pool or hanging at the studio!

Gabrielle Narcisse: The thing I love about these shoes is that they’re super comfortable and versatile. I envision wearing these on production days, to my day job, on my way to yoga and dance, or anything active where I need to wear something comfy yet cute.

What’s your favourite feature of this shoe?

Salim Garcia: My favourite feature on the shoe is the tag hanging on the left shoe. It adds character to the style and silhouette.

Gabrielle Narcisse: I love leather shoes, so I love that these are 100 per cent garment leather and that my night of dancing ended with no pain!

You have 10 minutes to put together an outfit with your Classics. What are you pairing them with?

Salim Garcia: I’d pair them with a sweater, baggy denims, a beanie, a scarf and some gloves, because it’s still cold in New York City.

Gabrielle Narcisse: Denim tuxedo with an excessive amount of jewellery and a cool hat (hair permitting).

How would you style your Reebok Classics while on the go?

Salim Garcia: While on the go, I’d throw on some sweatpants and a hoodie with my Reebok Classics. If I’m on set during the day, I’d wear them with some comfortable flare jeans and a button to stay casually-professional.

Gabrielle Narcisse: Depends on the day because I’m an extremely busy girl. I definitely can wear these to my 9 to 5 and then, after work, to whatever my evening or night activities may be: dance class, yoga class, Black Girl Fight Club work sessions or straight home. For on-the-go, I think something monochromatic and simple would be lovely. I’m into all black, all denim, neutral tones. I have become a bit of an expert in layering across the seasons, so with a nice clean white, I can focus on experimenting elsewhere.

What about for a night out?

Salim Garcia: Switching the vibe for night, I would rock some baggy denims for the silhouette and a hoodie, button-up, zip-up jacket or leather jacket on top.

Gabrielle Narcisse: I’m not usually a sneaker girl for parties, but if it’s a big night for dancing, these sneakers are perfect to get down in. Honestly, I see my styling for the party as an outfit I’ll repeat: skirt over pants, fun top and comfy outer layers for the New York February freeze. I adjust my style depending on my mood, level of comfortability, level of sexiness and my destination, so I envision playing with day and night looks in these. Come summer, I’ll have some sexier ideas!
