Jack Schlossberg Doubles-Down On Roast Of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story: ‘Making A Ton Of Money’

Jack Schlossberg, the nephew of JFK Jr., has doubled-down on his roast of Ryan Murphy, as the TV mogul’s new Kennedy-centred show continues to make waves.

ICYMI, the Murphy-produced series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette is part-way through its debut season, fictionalising the real-life romance between the iconic 90’s It-couple and copping some strays from the Kennedy family along the way.

Reacting to the show in a recent interview, Schlossberg — whose uncle is portrayed by Paul Anthony Kelly in the series — distanced the Kennedys from Murphy and said the producer “knows nothing about what he’s talking about” when it comes to the famous family.
“If you want someone who’s never met anyone in my family [and] knows nothing about us, talk to Ryan Murphy,” Schlossberg told CBS. “The guy knows nothing about what he’s talking about, and he’s making a ton of money on a grotesque display of someone else’s life.”
Schlossberg went on to stress that the show — which has so far retold key moments in couple’s lives like the tragic plane crash that killed them, their meet-cute at the behest of Calvin Klein and JFK Jr.’s romance with Madonna — is “fiction with a capital F”.
“This is not a documentary,” Schlossberg said.

When pressed further about why he’s particularly frustrated by Love Story given the excess of other Kennedy-focused content, Schlossberg pointed to the political climate while name-dropping his cousin and current US Health Secretary, RFK Jr.
“I think in the last few years partly because of RFK Jr., but also partly because of Donald Trump, there’s a lot of misinformation and iconography being used about the Kennedy family, at a time when we really can’t afford to confuse people,” Schlossberg said.
“We really need to take every breath that we have to try to make things better.”
Schlossberg went on to urge Murphy to “donate some of the millions of dollars of profits” he made from Love Story to the Kennedy family’s causes, like the JFK Library, or be more active in “do[ing] something about getting Trump out of power”.
Those who’ve been following Love Story will know this isn’t the first time the Kennedy scion has spoken out about Murphy.
Months before Love Story premiered, Schlossberg preemptively slammed Murphy on his Instagram Stories, saying the TV exec was for “profiting off” the Kennedy legacy in a “grotesque way” and that his “family was never consulted” during the creation of the show.
Murphy, a perpetually messy queen, returned serve, saying on a podcast it was “odd” Schlossberg was “mad about your relative that you really don’t remember”. Hey so that’s actually his uncle, remember?

While it is the latest escalation, this is far from the first time Murphy has offended the real-life counterparts of the many fictionalisations in his sprawling TV universe. From the families of victims of Jeffrey Dahmer to the infamous Menendez brothers, there’s no shortage of folks royally pissed off by his ceaseless efforts to bring real events to the screen.
All that without even mentioning All’s Fair, which was an offence in its own right in terms of quality. Thankfully, that show had no-real life counterparts, partly because no real lawyer in their right mind would wear a visible g-string to the firm.
