The Married At First Sight (MAFS) retreat is always an absolute doozy, and, according to 2026 intruder Chris Robinson, this season will be “an absolute shit show”.
Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Chris said, “If I can give you one word for the retreat, it’s carnage. Absolute carnage. It’s full on. It’s actually really full on.” While Chris said the MAFS retreat is “great” for his marriage with fellow intruder Sam Stanton, he did admit that the pair get involved in the drama at hand.
“For Sam and I, it’s great, we’re good. And then, yeah, it’s an absolute shit show. We kind of get involved a little bit, but it’s happening around us as well,” Chris explained. So what’s the drama, you wonder?
Chris teased that the rivalry between Bec Zacharia and Gia Fleur might heat up again, and that it gets a bit complicated for his relationship with Sam, considering their individual relationships with each MAFS bride.
“There’s some stuff coming up,” Chris shared. “I kind of gravitate towards Gia, and Sam kind of gravitates towards Bec a little bit. Obviously, Gia is such a vibe, and she comes in with lots of energy, and she loves the gays. She’s an ally for us, so I kind of naturally gravitate towards her.
“And then because Bec and Sam were both from Adelaide, they have an obvious friendship there too, so it gets a little tricky.”
The MAFS retreat is famous for memorable moments, both good and bad. It’s where Domenica Calarco and Olivia Frazer went to battle, where Timothy Smith had his emotional breakthrough with Lucinda Light and where Lauren Hall fired 127 insults at her cast mates.
It’s unsurprising considering the stage of the experiment it arrives — coming soon after Family & Friends Week, after the intruders have settled in and as the relationships enter their make-or-break stage. It’s also a chance for couples to witness the other marriages around them in a context that’s not the MAFS Dinner Party or Commitment Ceremony.
We can expect the MAFS retreat episodes to start arriving from next week, if previous years are anything to go by. As for what Bec and Gia will be arguing about at the MAFS retreat, well, I can hazard a guess, but we’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
