Deuxmoi May Have Figured Out Which Comedian Got Axed From Will Arnett’s Podcast: ‘Worst Guest Ever’
The gossipmongers over at Deuxmoi reckon they know which comedian Will Arnett was talking about when he mentioned pulling an episode of his Smartless episode last month.
ICYMI, Arnett made headlines when he recalled two difficult (and mystery) comedian guests who had appeared on Smartless — the celebrity interview podcast he co-hosts with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
What did Will Arnett say?
In a segment about worst guests ever on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Arnett said the first guest was a “very famous comedian” who was such a “fucking rank asshole” that it took all of 10 minutes for the hosts to call time on the interview.
“[We] cut him off after 10 minutes and said, ‘thanks so much,’ and ditched him,” Arnett said.
The actor stopped short of naming names — saying we’d be “blown away” by the guest’s identity — but he did elaborate on another incident involving a separate comedian who asked for her episode to be pulled before it was released.
“We had a guest, a comedian, and she asked us to not air her episode,” Arnett said, adding that they debated the request because producing episodes of the podcast “costs us money.”
The Arrested Development star claimed the “up-and-coming” comedian was worried her career might suffer if her quotes were taken out of context.
Who does Deuxmoi think Will Arnett was talking about?
Arnett again kept mum about that comedian’s identity, which is where the Deuxmoi sleuths come in. In an Instagram Story shared on Wednesday, the gossip site theorised that comedy writer and actress Pamela Adlon was the one whose Smartless episode was pulled.
Deuxmoi connected the dots by pointing to a separate podcast appearance in which Adlon criticised interviewers who weren’t familiar with her work.
“It is very refreshing to speak to someone who actually knows my show [Better Things],” Adlon said on the Choice Words with Samantha Bee podcast.
“I was on a show the other day and there were three hosts and one of the hosts [didn’t know Better Things]”.
That quote, according to Deuxmoi, was enough evidence to identify Adlon as the mystery guest Arnett mentioned. “She was on Samantha Bee’s podcast and mentioned being on a show with three hosts,” Deuxmoi wrote.
Of course, we don’t know for certain who Arnett was referring to — and the other “asshole” comedian he mentioned remains an even greater mystery — but it’s not the first time Smartless has copped heat for its interview style.
