As if the Married At First Sight (MAFS) Couples Retreat wasn’t already spicy enough, Rachel Gilmore has revealed a major moment that viewers didn’t get to see on TV.
In case you missed it, the brides had a massive blow-up during the coastal getaway when Bec Zacharia made an insensitive joke about Rachel and Steven Danyluk’s sex life in front of the entire cast. The drama escalated even more the following night when Juliette Fava, seemingly in defence of Rachel, called Bec “the dumbest c*nt”.
While Rachel and Steven had already been shown leaving the group gathering by the time the c-bomb was dropped, she told PEDESTRIAN.TV she was well aware of the comment before it was brought up at the next Dinner Party.
“The truth of it is on the final night after I had left, Steven went back to the group to kind of make sure that his friendship with Danny was all good, and he actually witnessed Juliette [say it],” she revealed.
“He wasn’t shown on camera, but he witnessed it. He came back to the room and told me what had happened, and my first response was, ‘So who spoke up for Bec?’ and he said, ‘No one’.”
MAFS’ Rachel spills on her relationship with Gia and Juliette
Although Juliette and Gia Fleur’s attacks against Bec were supposedly in support of Rachel, she admitted that she’ll always empathise with someone “who has been spoken to in a horrible way”.
“Juliette never should have spoken to Bec that way, and she should never have used my situation as leverage to okay that,” she said. “Simply put, you shouldn’t be speaking to people that way, and I will call out bad behaviour. That’s just who I am as a person.”

Since filming the series late last year, Rachel has managed to patch things up with Bec and now considers her one of her closest friends. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for her relationship with some of her other female co-stars, as she’s cut off all communication with Gia and Juliette.
“I don’t speak with Gia and Juliette and have no intention to,” she declared.
“Watching the episodes back and seeing the private conversation they had was quite alarming, and seeing what they said Bec said versus what was shown, I felt a bit foolish that I believed it. I think that they thought maybe I’d go a bit harder on Bec, and that’s just not who I am.”
Honestly, the reunion could not come soon enough.
