The 2026 Oscars Are Almost Here! Peep How To Watch Hollywood’s Night Of Nights In Australia

It’s time! The 2026 Oscars are upon us, with cinephiles and movie buffs around the world preparing as Hollywood’s brightest gather to pat themselves on the back for all the stellar and extremely important work they’ve done over the past 12 months. It’s serious business!
This year marks the 98th edition of the ceremony, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre in LA. It’s already been a pretty contentious awards season with some equally contentious campaigns, so here’s hoping the 2026 Oscars will wrap it all up in a pretty pink bow.
Although, who are we kidding? Whenever there’s a red carpet, someone’s bound to say something dumb. To prepare yourself for that, here’s everything you need to know about where to watch the 2026 Oscars in Australia.
When are the 2026 Oscars airing in Australia?
The 2026 Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 15 in Los Angeles. For those of us Down Under, that means the ceremony is happening on Monday, March 16. The perfect cure for Monday-itis? Watching a bunch of self-congratulatory celebs in ball gowns!
Where to watch the 2026 Oscars in Australia
This year, Channel Seven and 7plus were lucky enough to bag the broadcast rights for both the 2026 Oscars red carpet and the ceremony itself. The live red carpet coverage kicks off at 9.30am AEDT on Seven and streams live at the same time on 7plus.
The red carpet is often home to the Oscars’ most viral moments, so maybe we’ll get a repeat of Bjork’s swan dress or Angelina Jolie kissing her brother. Yes, that actually happened.
The 2026 Oscars ceremony will follow right after, airing on Seven and 7plus from 10.00am AEDT. I know what you’re thinking: my boss won’t let me watch the show at 10am on a Monday because he’s a party-pooper.
Well, fret not — you can watch an encore broadcast of the 2026 Oscars at 9pm on Seven and 7plus. In other words, the perfect time to draft up an Oscars bingo card with entries like ‘Timothée Chalamet says something cringe’.
Who is nominated for an Oscar in 2026?
It was a massive year for Sinners, which leads the pack for the 2026 Oscars with a whopping 16 nominations. Other major players this year are One Battle After Another (15 nominations) and Frankenstein (nine).

On the acting front, Australia gets a shout with nominations for Jacob Elordi (for Frankenstein) and Rose Byrne (for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You). They’ll be duking it out with acting category frontrunners like Chalamet, Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Buckley and Amy Madigan.

Who is hosting the 2026 Oscars?
Conan O’Brien is taking on hosting duties for the second time running, following his big debut at the ceremony last year.
If you recall, his monologue included roasts about Emilia Pérez, streaming services and Wicked, and since there’s been no shortage of scandals this awards season, I’m hoping he doesn’t hold back.
Who is presenting and performing at the 2026 Oscars?
A bunch of stars will head to the 2026 Oscars to present awards to their peers and internally cry it’s not them. This year, the list of presenters includes Chris Evans, Javier Bardem, Maya Rudolph, Demi Moore, Robert Downey Jr., Anne Hathaway and Paul Mescal.

They won’t be the only ones taking to the stage. The 2026 Oscars has booked two musical performances for the ceremony, and they’re both Best Original Song nominees. “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters will be performed by Rei Ami, EJAE and Audrey Nuna, while Miles Caton will perform “I Lied to You” from Sinners.
With all that out of the way, you can now get going on that Oscars bingo card I mentioned, which I have two more suggestions for: everybody freaks out about a star looking ‘unrecognisable’ and Timothée Chalamet says something somehow cringier than before.
Play on!
