Alabama basketball star arrested on the eve of March Madness as cops swoop on his Tuscaloosa apartment

Alabama basketball star Aden Holloway was arrested Monday morning in Tuscaloosa on felony drug charges, just days before the team’s NCAA tournament opener.

The guard was taken into custody by agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force during a residential search, according to the Tuscaloosa Police Department.

It was later revealed that the search took place in the 400 block of 30th Avenue East.

Officers reportedly recovered more than a pound of marijuana, along with various drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash during the Monday raid.

The Alabama Crimson Tide star was transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail on Monday morning and bond was set at $5,000.

The 21-year-old now faces a serious charge of first-degree possession of marijuana and a separate charge for failing to affix a required state tax stamp.

The arrest comes at a disastrous time for the basketball program, with Alabama scheduled to face Hofstra in a first-round tournament game this Friday in Tampa.

Holloway has been a focal point of the offense this season, averaging 16.8 points per game and providing veteran leadership for the fourth-seeded Crimson Tide.

The 21-year-old finished the regular season 14th in the SEC in scoring and was recently honored as a member of the ALL-SEC Third Team for his strong play.
