Massive police operation shuts down Lidcombe block as residents are told to avoid the area

People have been told to stay away from a building in a western Sydney suburb after a major police operation was launched.

Officers were called to a unit block on Uhrig Road in Lidcombe about 7.20am on Tuesday due to reports a man had been acting suspiciously in the area.

Heavily armed police, including members of tactical units, have established a perimeter around the area. 

‘The public is urged to avoid the area while the operation continues,’ police said.

No injuries have been reported.

Motorists have been warned Uhrig Road, Carter Street and Canning street are currently closed.

Anyone with information relevant to the incident has been urged to call Auburn Police.
