Wimbledon will introduce video review technology for the first time at this year’s Championships.
The All England Club confirmed that the ‘VAR’-style technology will be available on the six main show courts, including Centre Court and No 1 Court.
Video reviews were introduced on the ATP Tour last year and have been available at the US Open since 2023 and the Australian Open since 2025.
It allows players to challenge calls made by the umpire – such as on whether a ball has bounced twice or if a player has touched the net.
It can also apply to hindrance calls, as seen at Indian Wells last week when Jack Draper was controversially adjudged to have raised his arms during the point and put off his opponent Daniil Medvedev at a crucial stage of the second set.
The introduction of video reviews at Wimbledon comes after on-court line judges were replaced by electronic line calling last year.
The system notably failed during the fourth-round match between Sonay Kartal and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, meaning an error was not called.
Wimbledon also confirmed that it will introduce visual indicators to assist the electronic line calling, after some fans complained that they could not tell if a ball had landed in or out without the on-court line judge.
