Aldi shoppers gutted after discovering ‘best ever’ item is discontinued: ‘Can’t find them anywhere’

Aldi Australia shoppers are disappointed after discovering a popular frozen food item has been discontinued.

Eagle-eyed shoppers noticed that Seasons Pride Crispy Skin On Fries, normally sold in a 750g bag for $3.99, no longer appeared to be stocked in the freezer aisle.

An Aussie woman lamented: ‘Are these discontinued?’

‘These are my FAVOURITE frozen chips, everyone I serve them to also LOVES them!’ she shared in an online forum.

‘Now all of a sudden I can’t find them at any of my local stores (have checked seven different stores for the last month or so) and I can’t even see the shelf tags anymore! Someone please help.’

Daily Mail understands that Seasons Pride Crispy Skin On Fries were part of Aldi’s limited-time-only range, with the product first landing in the freezer aisle on May 26.

On the supermarket’s website, the product listing for the Seasons Pride fries appears as ‘currently not available’.

A number of replies to the online question confirmed the bad news that the frozen chips had left the shelves of the budget retailer.

‘They were a limited time item and I have not been able to get them for a while,’ noted one Aldi shopper.

Many shoppers raved about how much they enjoyed the savoury item while it was available – with one person describing the fries as ‘heavenly’.

‘The best chips ever. They better come back,’ agreed another.

‘Hoping they’ll come back as a permanent item soon as they are my favourite too. Still have a couple of packs in the freezer hidden. I hope they become available more regularly.’

The woman who originally posed the question in a post on an Aldi Australia SubReddit was disappointed to have her worst fears confirmed.

‘I hate these limited time items that are amazing,’ she said laughingly. ‘I hope they come back as a permanent item too. Other chips just aren’t as good.’

However, one person who was also a fan of the limited edition fries was adamant that Aldi stocks a worthy alternative.

‘My favourite fries in a long time,’ they agreed. ‘[But] the green shoestring ones that are out instead are nearly as good.’

Aldi shoppers looking for tasty, convenient, crispy frozen chips also have a number of other options to currently choose from, with prices starting as low as $2.99 per bag.

It’s not the only popular potato-based product to have quietly slipped off the shelves recently at Aldi Australia.

Aussie shoppers lamented that pantry staple Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mash Potato mix sachets haven’t been seen in recent weeks.

‘Does anyone know if the instant mashed potato is ever coming back?’ one Aldi customer asked fellow shoppers in an online post.

‘My local store in Melbourne has been out for weeks and the spot it’s usually in has been taken away.’

Daily Mail recently learned that Aldi’s exclusive label Chef’s Cupboard Instant Mash Potato mix was part of the supermarket’s limited time only range. Accordingly, the item is no longer available.

For those in need of an instant mash fix, several Aldi Australia shoppers suggested a worthy alternative recently added to the store’s freezer aisle.

Seasons Pride Mashed Potato $4.60 (1kg) has only just landed in Aldi and was praised in the recent Reddit discussion.

The convenient, ready-to-heat mashed potatoes can be made in the microwave in under four minutes. The instructions state that you need only add water, although many shoppers who had tried it recommended a few extra additions for taste.

‘They are great. Splash of milk and a bit of butter at the end and they are quite good,’ chimed in one person. ‘My Irish ancestors would turn in their graves but it’s easy to give the kids mash potato without the hassle.’
