All The Summer I Turned Pretty Easter Eggs From S3 Eps 1 & 2

The Summer I Turned Pretty season three is finally here! If you’re like the many rabid fans (me) dying to know if Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah comes out on top, you probably devoured the first two episodes as soon as they were released on July 16.

In your rush to avoid spoilers, there may have been some key details you overlooked. But that’s okay! I’ve been scouring the episodes for easter eggs dropped by author and showrunner Jenny Han, and I can safely say that she has been studying the Taylor Swift playbook.

There were parallels between To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and XO, Kitty, as well as some not-so-subtle hints that Bonrad (Belly and Conrad, to all you newbies), is still alive and kicking. And no, I don’t think she will choose herself — otherwise I (and the entire PTV office) WILL RIOT. As well as kidnap Jenny Han and force her to remake the entire series… for legal reasons, this is a joke. Anyway.

Here are all The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 easter eggs so far:

Belly and Jeremiah dressed up as Peter Kavinsky and Lara-Jean Covey for Halloween

The Summer I Turned Pretty shows Belly (Lola Tung) moving into her dorm at Finch College, and she creates a photo wall right next to her bed. One of the photos shows her posing for a photo with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) during a Halloween celebration, and the pair are dressed up as Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) and Lara-Jean Covey (Lana Condor) from the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy.

Peter and Lara-Jean are endgame and one of the greatest rom-com couples in recent history, so is Jenny hinting that Jellyfish will make it all the way? Or is this just another hint to throw us off the scent?

Belly and Conrad’s classic Jenny Han fall scene

In To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and XO, Kitty, both Kitty and Lara-Jean fall before being rescued by their romantic interests, Min-Ho and Peter. In TSITP, Belly and Conrad get the same treatment. When Belly rushes down the stairs in Cousins, she falls flat on her back, before opening her eyes to see Conrad looking down at her. He also just happens to have wet hair, which Belly previously said she loved.

Conrad’s crossword message for Belly

During one of the rare Bonrad storylines we had during Episodes 1 and 2, Conrad’s (Christopher Briney) message to Belly after leaving her at the summer house in Cousins was heartbreaking.

The clue for one of the crossword answers reads: “Novel by author Jenny Han, P.S. I ___ Love You”, with the answer being “still”. As a way to convey his feelings to his brother’s girlfriend (I know, the whole concept of this show is bonkers), he filled in the answer but erased it, leaving Belly to fill in the gap.

An infinity sign hints at Conrad and Belly’s romance

After Belly stares at the crossword puzzle and reminisces about her secret getaway with Conrad, the camera tilts down. There wasn’t much purpose to this shot except at one point, the reflection on the kitchen counter forms an infinity sign. This can’t be a coincidence, because Conrad previously gave Belly an infinity necklace to symbolise their relationship.

Belly’s wardrobe choices

During the first trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty season three, Conrad’s storyline was accompanied by ‘Red’ by Taylor Swift, while Jeremiah was given ‘Daylight’. This theme has bled into the actual show as well, with Belly wearing red sunglasses while talking to Conrad on the phone.

When she emerges after finding out about Jeremiah’s infidelity, she’s wearing a red jacket, plus she’s wearing red pyjamas when she spends a few days with Conrad in Cousins. This has to be intentional.

There’s still hope for Taylor and Steven

While Taylor (Rain Spencer) and Steven (Sean Kaufman) have officially broken off their affair for good, there was a callback to season two, when Steven was saying Jeremiah wasn’t good for Belly because “he doesn’t challenge” her.

In season three, he tells Taylor he decided he didn’t want to chase after her anymore, even though he loves “a challenge”. Hello?!!! It looks like these two are endgame; we just have to be patient.

Episodes drop weekly on Amazon Prime Video, so there’s no doubt fans will be well and truly fed for weeks to come.

New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 drop on Amazon Prime Video at 5pm AEST on Wednesdays.
