Angelina Jolie has visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing to see up close the terrifying humanitarian crisis impacting Gaza.
An AFP video this afternoon shows the Oscar-winning star speaking with aid workers and being shown around the crossing.
According to local press, Jolie made the visit to see the condition of injured Palestinians transferred to Egypt. TRT World reported that Jolie visited the Egyptian side of the crossing, speaking with members of the Red Cross’s Red Crescent and truck drivers ferrying humanitarian aid into Gaza. A Red Crescent volunteer told Jolie that “there are thousands of aid trucks just waiting” at the border crossing, reported the outlet.

The Rafah Crossing is the only crossing point between Egypt and Palestine’s Gaza Strip, playing a major role in bringing aid into Gaza since the Israeli attacks that were a response to the October 7 2023 massacre. Although a ceasefire has been reached, humanitarian aid is still desperately needed. At least 70,000 people are reported to have been killed since the Israel-Hamas War started more than two years ago, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Much of Gaza has been destroyed.
Jolie is an Oscar-winning star of Girl, Interrupted, Tomb Raider and Mr & Mrs. Smithbut she is also known for her humanitarian work. As Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, she has travelled the world visiting refugee camps and war zones.
