An armed man, claiming to be law enforcement, has been detained at Charlie Kirk’s memorial site in Arizona.
The man was detained on Friday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, which is set to host Kirk’s memorial service on Sunday September 21.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead on September 10 in front of crowds of students and supporters at Utah Valley University while on his ‘American Comeback’ tour.
‘The US. Secret Service in coordination with local law enforcement in Glendale, Arizona, is investigating an individual who was observed exhibiting suspicious behavior at State Farm Stadium,’ Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi told Fox News Digital.
The man, who is yet to be identified, was approached by Secret Service and said he was a member of law enforcement and armed.
A source close to the matter told the New York Times that he was armed with at least one gun and a knife and presented ‘inactive law enforcement credentials.’
‘The individual is not a member of authorized law enforcement working the event and is currently in custody,’ Guglielmi added.
Secret Service and local law enforcement are investigating the incident and determining why he was at the location.
