Aussie Olympic great Leisel Jones reveals how she lost an incredible 25kg after ‘something changed’ when she turned 40

Aussie swimming legend Leisel Jones has revealed how she lost an impressive 25kg after turning 40.
The three-time Olympic gold medallist told Channel 7’s Sunrise opting to use medical assistance was life-changing.
‘It was a very difficult decision to make, because I did feel like it was cheating,’ Jones said.
‘I’ve used a medical-assisted weight loss program, which has been fantastic for me, and I’ve been working with (women’s weight-loss program) Juniper.’
Jones admitted when she turned 40 ‘something changed’ and she struggled to lose weight.
It came despite being a regular at the gym and understanding the importance of nutrition as a former professional athlete.

In September last year, Jones became the first female Aussie sports star to join forces with Advanced Hair as she looked to address a condition which affects millions of women globally
She also had to endure several medical conditions which made weight loss challenging, notably high liver enzymes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and subclinical hypothyroidism.
Jones’ focus going forward is reducing the stigma around medically-assisted weight loss.
‘There’s many judgements…people are losing weight and others think, ‘Oh, you’ve taken a shortcut,’ she said.
‘No, no, no, no. It’s not a shortcut. This is just giving you that little bit of assistance to get into a good routine with positive habits.
‘It’s OK if you need medication to assist you to do that.’

‘I’ve faced many challenges in my life, but hair loss was one I didn’t expect,’ she said at the time.
‘It impacted my confidence in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
‘Working with Advanced Hair Studio has been a transformative experience – not just physically, but emotionally.
‘I (also) want others to know they are not alone, and that help is out there.’
Jones’ journey began with an AI-driven evaluation of her hair, followed by SCIPRP – Stem Cell Infused PRP treatment – which utilise platelets to stimulate hair follicles.
Her next step was a laser therapy program followed by Advanced Hair and Scalp Regenerative Antioxidants.
Other renowned Aussie athletes who were transformed after working closely with Advanced Hair include the late Shane Warne and fellow cricketer Greg ‘Mo’ Matthews.
Jones’ career highlights were gold medals at the 2004 Games in Athens (4x100m medley relay) and four years later in Beijing (100m breaststroke, 4x100m medley relay).
She retired from the pool in November of 2012.
