Aussie thugs who shot dead Melbourne father-of-six in Bali villa learn their fates

Two Australians who confessed to killing a Melbourne gangland figure and injuring another will spend a combined 32 years behind bars in Bali.

Mevlut Coskun and Paea I Middlemore Tupou fronted a Balinese court on Monday for their sentencing, which was pushed back a week following an unexpected delay.

The pair were each sentenced to 16 years in jail with presiding judge Wayan Suarta ruling they were ‘legally and convincingly’ guilty of the premeditated murder.

Coskun and Tupou earlier pleaded guilty to the assassination of Zivan Radmanovic and injury of Sanar Ghanim on June 14, 2025.

Prosecutors claimed Ghanim was shot six times while Radmanovic was beaten with a sledgehammer before being fatally shot. Both men have links to Melbourne’s underworld.

They had been staying at a villa in the area of Munggu with their partners, where Radmanovic’s wife, Jazmyn, was celebrating her 30th birthday.

Coskun and Tupou, who claimed they were hired by an Australian man to collect a ‘debt’, were accused of using a sledgehammer to break into the villa under the cover of darkness and attacking Ghanim and Radmanovic.

Darcy Francesco Jenson is accused of organising the logistics of the trip in the months before the alleged attack – including accommodation, car hires and scooter rentals.

All three men were arrested in the days after the alleged shooting as they tried to flee the country.

Coskun, 22, and Tupou, 27, were tried together while Jenson, 27, is facing a separate trial.

Judge Suarta on Monday said: ‘The crime was well-planned.

‘The motivation to (commit) the crime was to get money. The defendants have also tried to run away to another country.’

Denpasar District Court heard the two Australians were ‘cooperative, still young and still have hope for their future.’

The 16-year sentence is lighter than that sought by the prosecution. The worst case scenario for the pair would have been the death penalty.

Coskun and Tupou were also charged with firearm offences, the Herald Sun reported.

Radmanovic’s wife, Jazmyn Gourdeas, returned to the courtroom alongside her family on Monday.

She had also been at the original sentencing date, which was postponed at the last moment.

Ms Gourdeas and her loved ones expressed their frustration at the hearing last week, questioning why they weren’t told the sentencing was rescheduled.

‘Every trip we have come here, we have funded ourselves,’ she said outside the court.

‘Your government hasn’t helped. Our government hasn’t helped. Nobody has helped us.

‘To be told today it has been adjourned without being notified prior – now what?

‘What do we do? Go home and not be able to afford to come back next week? Or wait in Bali and lose more money?’

The family were sombre on Monday.

Ms Gourdeas’ 13-year-old son was asked to leave the courtroom before the sentences were read out.

He was seen lingering near the door while dressed in all black, like his mother.

Jenson will learn his fate at a later date.
